The ori are physically much more advanced than the wraith and have a much larger knowledge base. We KNOW their technology is far in advance of what the wraith have, and judging that any encounter would likely only be against a small number of wraith - the Ori would simply annihilate the wraith. The Ori can even take on much larger numbers without having to break a sweat - as seen the Series 9 finale.

So bottom line - HALLOWED ARE THE ORI.

nice..i believe, the ori could possibly defeat the wraith. with their one shot weapons they could murdur em off pretty quick. now...say 60 hive ships on 4 ori ships...maybe...just maybe the wraither would win...but, i still have bets on ori, purely because of their technology. the shields dont let anything through (not counthing the matter stream of the rings during the firing of their main weapon) who knows...the wraith could come down all at once and find a weakness and exploit it..dunno what it would be or how..but knowing the wraith they would find a way.

First of all, Ori were not ascended when Ancients left to MK. The views just differed and Ancients went away. So you can't talk about current Ori level against pre-ascended Ancient.

Now Wraith vs Ori(the followers and priors) encounter would be pretty much clear.
Wraith could do absolutely nothing against Priors. They would have no trouble constructing the supergate - Wraith would help them annihilate a planet by firing at the force field. Then classically, 4 Ori ships enter Pegasus. Wraith can do no damage at them(probably could if constantly fire several days from many Hives, as with Atlantis). Ori kill Hives - one shot one kill. So 4 vs even 60, would end up half of Hives destroyed, others fled. Each other encounters would end up in even better ratio for Ori. Several Hives might be able to hide, but in the end, it would do no good. Every culling would warn Ori and each culling would end up in Hive being destroyed. In time Wraith doesn't have any food - they die naturally.
Pegasus ends up dominated by Ori.
Easy and clean. No chance for Wraith. They wouldn't even have a chance if Ascended Ancients helped humans.

what makes you so sure the wraith are powerless against the ori? dont you think that they would once again reproduce if they encountered such foes? the true strength of the wraith isnt their technology, but their numbers... the wraith have technology good enough to stand up to the ancients, and their numbers makes up for the slightly weaker technology... even if the ori destroyed something like 30 out of 60 hives, the wraith would just build another 60 hives, and then the ori would be beaten...

I am afraid building 30 more Hives would take much more time than Wraith could hold without feeding.

It's just that Ori shielding is so much more powerful than Asgard and most probably even better than Ancient(which if powered with ZPMs could hold quite long on massive Wraith attacks), because it was designed with help of Ascended Ori.

10 hives or so may be able to take an ORI's shield down after a while, I'll admit to that.

However it would take 1 ORI ship about 20seconds to take a Wraith Hive down. The speed they can fire their main gun at stable targets is seen when an ORI ship destroys the mountain of Dakara, it lets off 5 or 6 shots in a few seconds. Wraith hives are 15 or so times bigger than ships like the deadalus, I dont think they'll last long.


And rather than the ancients shield piercing tech, ORI seem to just be overpowering the enemy shields, which gives them an advantage over non shielded targets.

there is also one other thing about hives, they are so big that they are hard to destroy in one hit... they dont blow up the same way other ships do...

and dont forget, the wraith have experience in defeating enemies with superior technology...

also, the priors arent the only mentally advanced beings, wraith are also mentally advanced... much more than humans are...

And yet, the main gun of Ori ship seems to be destroying everything in one hit if shielding is penetrated. I believe it would be no problem cutting in half Wraith Hive - it's even smaller than Ori ships(which are much much larger than Asgard which are much much larger than Daedalus).

And what I mean with Ori shielding being much more powerful is - Atlantis could hold very long with many Hives shooting at them. But Atlantis didn't have any offensive weapons to fire back. Ori does have and pretty powerful ones. So they could easily afford firing several days at many Hives(all 60+?) without receiving any hull damage due to shielding.

Now to Prior vs Wraith mental powers... Wraith have nothing what Priors have. Wraith can only communicate with each other. Prior can easily take on pretty much any size of army of any race without getting hurt. Furthermore, Ori would probably think of some kind of virus to use on Wraith.


Well it is just impossible when normal beings are fighting somebody using mental powers and help of Ascended. It's just so impossible. Asgard would probably be the only ones having any success, as they could easily supress Prior powers and, in time, find a way to destroy their ships. So any war against Ori can only be won with technology.

atlantis didnt fire back because they were almost out of drones + lacked power for the chair...

and about the size of ships, here is a quote about wraith hives:

Wraith Hive-Ships are the second largest known ships in the Stargate universe, after the Ancient city ship. It is even larger than the Ori battlecruiser as seen in the SG-1 episode "Camelot". Hive ships are at least 13 times larger than Earth's Daedalus class battlecruiser. It is unknown precisely how many Wraith each hive ship can carry, but the number is well into the thousands.

and about the weapons, the ori used several minutes to beat the shields on the "Korolev", yet read below, in bold text:

A Wraith Hive-Ship has a large number of weapon ports stationed across the exterior of the ship. These ports rapidly fire blue energy bolts which are powerful enough to destroy another Hive-Ship after around 20-30 hits and, when several Hive-Ships worked in concert, were able to bring down the Asgard designed shields of the Daedalus in less than a minute. The ship does not seem to have any point defense weapons to fight off smaller ships such as F-302s. Instead the Wraith Dart is used for fighter-defense. It is not known how many fighters can be carried by a Hive-Ship, but it is estimated in the hundreds as shown in "The Siege" and other episodes.

the wraith do have telepathic powers, remember how they control their ships, and also how they can control each other and some humans... they can also be very "persuasive", forcing people to kneel... at least queens can do that...

no doubt the ori would construct some virus, but the wraith have almost perfect health, so the only kind of virus that would affect them would be asuran-style nanites, and they have a will of their own, and only strike when they want to...

while the lack of mental powers may make it harder for the "good guys" to defeat the ori, it is not impossible... remember, they did destroy 1/4th of the ori army... so it is not impossible...

Yep was wrong about Ori ship size. Seemed larger in episodes. Can't remember having Ori and Wraith ships facing each other in any episode though.

Hives have absolutely no shielding - they just never needed them. It took two shots for Ori ship to destroy Daedalus-class ship(one hit shields at half). It would take one for an Ori to cut hive ship in two pieces... Thats pretty much a kill. Hive ship is not so hard to destroy with heavy weapons as was seen with Ancient satellite. And due to the fact that Ori ships were constructed with help of Ascendeds, I can only assume it is a much powerful weapon there.
All in all, Hive ship is an easy fat target for Ori ship.

While on the other side, several Hives rapidly firing at Atlantis did pretty low damage. Don't compare Daedalus-class shielding with Ori shielding. As Ori shielding by the idea should be stronger than Ancients - due to the same Ascendeds help fact - Ori ship would have no trouble holding several days on rapid fire from many Wraith Hives. Thats much more than enough time to kill the Hives one by one, even if reload of Ori main weapon took much longer than it takes. So the only result is Wraith fleeing the battle... While it would take a while to eliminate all Wraith, it that would at all be possible, the ending would still be the same.

When you mention 1/4 of Ori army eliminated, you forget the fact that it was only with the help of Dakara superweapon. Although ground attack would be not so easy for simple Ori warriors. But the Priors are still there to make the difference. And Wraith(even millions of them) against Priors is unfair fight. If you watched Matrix, then you can pretty much compare Neo's invicibility to Priors'. They can just control everything.

we did not mean the dakara attack... soldiers are easily replaced... we meant the ship they destroyed with the supergate...

and for the ori ship vs. wraith hives, while the ori ship might easily destroy one hive, there would still be several dozen others, and several thousand darts... and no doubt the darts could beam up lots of ori soldiers... and it was hard for Daedalus to stand up to fire from 3-4 hives, so in comparison, the ori ships should have quite hard time surviving continious bombardment by 60 hives and countless cruisers and darts...

if say the ori ships could fire with main gun once each minute, then it would take it well over 2 hours to eliminate all hives and cruisers... and by even half that time, the wraith would have drained the shields and crushed the ship...

one of the methods the wraith use is; when technology is inferior, overwhelm them with great numbers...
