planetary defences

i think to combat the fleets being able to mass a planet(and they should still be allowed to as its more realistic)

i think planets defences shouldn't just be upgraded the way they are but also be given the option to add turrets to them. Much like the Tolah weapons in the series which can take down a MS.

may i suggest:

plasma
ion
photon
disruptor

these can be the kinds and levels of the turrets the planets can have. makes the defences more stable when they're being massed as they can kill a few fleets along with the regular defences killing fleets.


and I rant on.....i think fleets should be destroyed instead of repairable it makes more sense...you cant exactly have an engineer jump onto a fighter in mid combat and start to tighten those bolts and put out the fires now can we.....tis silly.

good idea... but perhaps defenses could have race based names (but no difference in power) after all, it is illogical that an ancient would use a plasma defense when he/she can use drones... it would also help make races more different...

and the idea about fleets destroyed not repaired... maybe fleets could be a middle thing, so that some are destroyed, some damaged, some whole... and same thing for planet defenses... some hurt, some destroyed, and some disabled...

yeah that sounds about right :)

i did only mention 4 types based on races but didnt mention it :P

but i think its more realistic for defences and fleets to be destroyed rather than damaged. im sure a few fighters attacking a plasma turret arent going to scold it for firing at them lol they'd must rather destroy it.

also another note on teh current planet defences they could be change to plantary sheild capacity and the fleets would have to break through that to get a shot at the turrets and vice versa wouldnt want the thing really unbalanced

Also, make it so that if the fleets are being devastated (def > atk 5x or more), no defenses are destroyed. They are now :? So found an alliance member out

i dont quite follow you with the turrets thing but it sounds good, but i totally agree with the fleets being destroyed

I like this idea, and as many have said beofre: FLEETS SHOULD BE DESTROYED WHEN ATTACKING!!!!

but i also found out that if you go with a difference in factor of about a hundred, you will really loose no defences at all.

but that's still rubbish.


i find the idea interesting that if you increase technology for your turrets you have a higher chance of destroying fleets.
and a middle thing (some fleets being only damaged and some destroyed) would come very close to reality.

which is why we suggested it... being all destroyed is unnatural, but so is all damaged, no destroyed, so something in between is more natural... therefore, some destroyed, some damaged, some untouched...

im not too sure how easy that is to code though, having some damaged and some destroyed but it can be done.

and urogard the techs for turrets is a great idea, do it like ascended blessing or the goa'uld conversion for dead units when destroying fleets(wouldnt destroy them all)

itll be interesting to see how it works in practice really.

If you're going to make fleets destroyable when attacking then you must logically do the same for attack and defense weapons. No more massing and just doing repairs. You lose UU *and* weapons during a massing and the defender takes defense weapon damage *and* loss.

It's not reasonable to make one part of the game require loss without making other parts of the game do the same. You guys really do spend entirely too much time worrying about planets. Build your account so you don't need planets and you'll be a happier player.

what we wanted was to have fleets and planet defenses damaged/destroyed same way... to try to balance it a little...

you make a good point but i highly dount anyone can get 500k raw UP from their regular UP upgrades. it costs 21tril naq to get to 160k so can you imagine the cost to get 500k raw UP?
