Some people have a legitimate reason for more than one account being on the same IP or network IP. Some people, however, don't. Right, onto the main idea and away from the stuff everyone knows.
On another game similar to SGW that I used to play they had a section that showed any player everyone that was logged into thier current IP address. This would allow for the person to contact forum and give an explination for them having more than one person on the same IP. Or inform forum if there is someone on the same IP that they didn't know about. This also allows for strickter rules on users on the same IP. Which in turn should reduce multis.
Also, if someone has already suggested this could I be pointed in the direction of that thread.

It showed the IP but it's only the person/people who has logged into the IP who can see it anyway. Of course it doesn't have to be identical but thats what it was based on.

no, it tells your IP, and says who else logs on from that IP... it does not say any other IP's...
how would this be for people logging on in several places?
Will it then show:
1. all those IP's and all logging on at all of them?
or
2. will it show only those logging on at your current IP?

I personally log in on 3 locations, my school network (shared by about 7 others), my house network (shared with 2 others) and my relatives house (shared by 1 other). I have tried sending resources and tradeing with some of the ones from school from my house location and it is dissallowed. So i'm asuming that, in SGW, there is a time limit between the logging into one IP and another before the IP sharing relaxes. So, in short, I believe that it would probably show the list of IPs because, in-game, the rules are still inplace even if you have logged in elsewhere.
Showing as a list may cause confusion for people who log in at a lot of different places but it could be simplified with, say, a drop-down box for each IP.
Also, just to clarify it, only the person/people who have logged in on that IP can view the IP, like Suporter Status or Market Suporter Status, you can see it on your "base" page but no-one else can.

there is, or maybe it is permanent... at least till the persons involved send mail to forum asking for ip exception...

could be useful way to do it... but might be better to have a drop-down box with all the IP's logged in from, and for each a "()" with a number in, stating how many other players that have logged in from there...

would be better to have it on some other page... usually one doesnt need to check it...
so maybe have it on preferences or on the broker page?
or perhaps have a list on the broker page of players/ID's one cannot trade with because of having shared IP?

I was just using that as an example to show that only you can view it. I wasn't suggesting it to be on the "base" page. I wasn't exactly sure where it would be placed.

It is annoying this IP stuff, because i have sent many mails and still not had it lifted, for the times i am at friends place, or visa versa, and we both play obviously...
I think there is little need for this, because any multi that actually wants to get somewhere will need ALOT of accounts, and if u see that many on one IP, THEN you can ban them. Otherwise the multi can just use a proxy, and there will be no way of the admin being able to tell..
In other words, i think the IP limit should be more than 2 per IP, before it disables sending of naq, etc. I think 5 is a more reasonable number. 5 is enough for a few friends to be playing, and get together at each others houses. But 5 probably wouldn't be enough for a school, for example

There shouldn't be a need for this rule, player who play fairly get banned all the time for no reason and the cheaters continue to get away with it. Mine as well just let them waste there time on all there accounts, I have better things to do then waster 23 out of my 24 hour day on the computer. Just let them waster theres if they want to, it's only a game.

i think in the case sgw it permanently records your ip address into its system because for example in my work place 4 of us are playing actively and 3 of us have ss, but when i go home and try to send resources to one it cant because we have shared an ip address at one point in time, i tried it again after a month and still cant so im guessing its already permanent
so you need to send admin an email asking for exemption unfortunately it takes a long time, and your mail gets lost in the process, ive sent an exemption but up until now i cant send resources and the mail was sent a year ago
i tried sending a few more but no avail, i dont know if i cant be exempt, because there was no confirmation email of it being received as well
