password strength meter

i don't know if this is possible or not, but can we have a password strength meter for newbie's registering, and also on our change password page?

I mean absolutely no disrespect by this reply, but can I please ask why you think this would be necasary. I have to be honest I hate the fact I have to type in numbers from a wierd dice just to play this game, let alone un needed password rules such as needing 6 numbers followed by three capital letters just for a password to be accepted. If of course you just mean a meter that rates your current password please disregard this message. However I do not think that password policies need to be messed with. Infact I wish we could change the logon process I really dont see any benefit in it at all. Of course if someone could educate me as to why this is needed let me know. This is my own personal thought and in no way slanderous.

he did mean just one that tells you the strength of password, not to change requirements for passwords...

and the reason for the current logon pics and such is to stop scripts and such...

Ah I see. So the numbers are on there to stop people from using a script to auto log on and deposit into a bank for example? All makes sense now

Simply requiring a password at least 8 characters long, be composed of at least one lower and one upper case character, at least one symbol, and at least one number would be easy to implement and very effective.

theres a better way go to hotmail click sign up they have a password meter use that as a test...

Yes its not even case sensitive.

A good start would be if the password would be mandatory:

-Make the password case sensitive
-8 characters at least (including capital letters and special characters...)
-2 Capital letter at least
-2 special characters at least

na... remembering a password like that can be a pain... ppl save it to a text file then lose it etc... Offer suggestions for it mabye, but don't make it mandatory.

That should be mandatory... and btw you can your your present password, with say your mothers maiden name's starting letter and her date of birth. But anything else easy to remember...

Cracking those codes are far more harder... In fact it take multiplied time with each character added.

Simply use a 48 character long password composed of Latin, Cyrillic, and Egyptian Coptic character sets mixed with decimal numbers, extended control characters, and financial symbols from at least three different countries.

It could be mandatory for those who register, and everyone would have to change the password as he logs in first time after the update is in...
They cant do anything before they change it... it would work...

Or everyone get a random generated password in email...
