Locking Threads

I don’t know much about modding but I have noticed of the past couple of months the amount of locked threads has risen it seams like 1 in 3 threads are locked and it never used to be this way so I have to ask is locking all these threads completely necessary, there have been a couple of threads that I would have liked to comment on but they are locked within minutes of the mod thinking the thread is done with and im sure there are many occasions for example a war where the war finishes, mod locks thread, war starts up again.

What does everyone else think?

I think Threads should be locked after the case has been closed, I hate it when a good thread gets finshed with loads of spam at the end.

I agree there has been a few interesting threads that have been closed and others where they say check the search button which is not very effective

I always remember when threads were determind as being 'Done with' by the forum members when nobody posted and i slipped to the bottom of the page very rarely was a thread locked

I agree with you, I see locked threads all the time, that say something that needs to be replied to or commented on............

the forum used to decide when a topic is done,,,,,,,,,thats how forums you know ...WORK

I agree it's quite annoying to see a thread locked when more could be said. Mind you I might not have said it but it would be nice to see things unfold and die like they should in time.

There has been threads locked alot, especially in this main 'general' area of the forum.

Its hard for one person to decide whether something deserves to be locked or not, and thats why theres mods.

i think he is referring to the entire forum..........

threads seem to be locked ALOT more then they used to.........and it does take alot out of the experience in visiting this forum

it is normal for a forum to let threads just die on their own............

this forum seems to try to micro-manage everything more then most forums I visit

I will die of laughter if I find this thread locked later today ..........

Threads are locked when there finished with, if you want it re-opened you only have to ask. Unless theres a good reason not to, it will usually be reponed.

It would also help if threads didn't always wind up full of meaningless spam and unneccisary flaming. Then threads could die on their own. Until people can control their urges to do these things I see no propblem with locking threads. As stated if you have something relavent to say most mods will reopen a thread on request.

as a former admin of a fairly active forum (for a few years)

i can truely say not every single spam thread needs to be locked.

there's a little feature called split threads. its very easy to use and should therefore be taken full advantage of to it's max potential.

There needs to be a line drawn over when to lock threads, and that line will either determine how much respect you will hold on the forums.
