Well done to all the clever people in this thread who kindly noted that scamming isnt cheating, well done, however the topic of this thread is IF scamming should be classed as cheating.

I think it should be, a panel could easily be made for a few picked players, trustworthy ones, who could be able to veiw transfers between people and reverse trades. Or something lol. And kinda sort it out. Its better than "Oh look another scammer lets say how sorry we are".

Scamming is simply defeating the innate common sense of people.

The better the scammer, the higher the level of common sense required, until at some point the scamming abilities require the use of other means to detect it.

At one point no one else is to blame but the scammees. :) The scammer is merely a player who has perfected the use of that ability to lie to people straightfaced.

It's a vice. And as such, it's no fun to be told to be one. ;)

I think falsely accusing someone of scamming should be MORE illegal then scamming itself. It damages peoples' trust in a person if that person is attacked and called a scammer by people with less-then-good intent.

I like Inferno's idea. :-D

I don't. My gosh, I don't even want to think about how much complaining there would be... (from those who didn't even do a trade to those who were voted by the panel that they "scammed" and they didn't)

aka bad idea.

Mostly bureaucratical. Good point though.
First change the whiny nature. Then add in some bureaucratic measures. ;)

I change my vote. Bad idea until the accusatory mentality has changed.

I say no for the following reasons.

It's a role play game.

The whole point of the game is to steal recourses from other players and if you can acheive that by scamming(ingame recourses only) then congrats to you as it's part of the roleplay.

If you are foolish enough to get scammed(again, ingame recourses only) you deserve all you get as there are functions available ingame to prevent that.

Players such as "Esker" and "Plague/Bahamut"(NO plague was not bahamut but was working O/B of bahamut) alhough universally hated pulled off great scams and did so in the true spirit of the game.

You may hate these guys but you canot deny that they are both SGW legends
market mod speaking
Relentless

Not cheating, in most cases Cheating involves hacking, exploiting bugs. And Scamming involves trickery.

Just my opinion

agreed totally wheres peoples intellect gone these days geez, i say if someones scammed then deal with it, mass them so on let the community know, apart from that i say admin should be allowed to laugh at you, stick to the blackmarket and brokers if you cant afford to be scammed or are to dumb.

ah just to clarify what do you mean by scamming??? as a whole ??? because ingame resources being scammed i think the above statement but accounts being scammed i have a slightly different point of veiw so yeah maybe something could be done to help account sales but ingame resources NAH.

although on a technicallity when you consider brokers are in your PERSONAL market the idea was not for them to be bought by others much like account trading i dont think they are exactly going to make a broker for accounts .... would be an idea though maybe somehow lol.

besides you say that to everyone and then everyone masses you and never trades with you again they pay a small price compared to you so it kinda works out anyways.

yes but as i said private markets where made for private use not public sale therefore meaning a safe way to do it would be defeating the purpose of private market would it not
