i had read in a thread somewhere about someone having the idea of putting a beacon on their planet abandoning it and then massing whoever finds the planet.
my suggestion is simple. if its your planet and you put a beacon on it you forfeit the right to use said beacon once you abandon it. why? it doesnt make any sense to put a beacon on something you're just going to give up.
if you steal someone else's planet and they have a beacon THAT beacon should still work. i dont know how easy or hard this would be to implement but i dont think you should get to abandon a planet and then punish someone else just for finding it. if you abandon it YOU should be punished for it by losing the beacons you have on it.
a tweak to the beacon feature

also, what if someone abandons a planet by mistake? should they then be prevented from getting planet back?

i disagree. I think that you should be able to abandon it (if you are in a war or are getting massed and can't afford to protect ti and do not want your enemy to get it). i myself will put beacons on my planets. I will then abandon them. I will add about 5 beacons to each planet. i can then find a previous planet (say an UP or double bonus planet). That way, you can sell the information on the market

If you cant defend your planet in a war then you don't deserve it. Simple as that. Sure you can abandon it but you shouldn't be allowed to find it again with a beacon. To me it sounds like a loop hole getting around planet stealers.

*probably get shot for this one*
I think if you ascend that all beacons on planets in your relm should burn up. Think about it.
