stupid question

when u ascend do ur miners and lifers stay with u or only ur lifers. ive ascneded 3 times and all three times i untrained my miners and sent em away having to retrain them after ascension causing my lifers to go up(not good). so if anyone knows if ur miners stay or do u lose them when u ascend. im talking when u have more miners then lifers. ex 1556566 (500000) do u keep the first number or only second number when u ascend. right now i feel like a newb asking this question but any help would be appreaciated
