u should let the entire aliance increase the planets attributes. planet with 20k UU production isnt going to do much for the an alliance of 20+ ppl. if the whole alliance could do something then it would be nice to get the planet up to like 100k UP pf cousre there would be a limit to how mucu could uprade it per size. for example:
a huge planet could only be upgraded to 100k UU, until the size is upgraded to monsterous, then it could grow up to 200k UU.

that limit could perhaps be based on member count as well... since it wouldnt really be fair if an alliance of 50 people could only get it to 100k up before increasing size, while an alliance of 10 could the same... it would be better if it was based both on size and on member count...
maybe: (using UP as example)
large: 1000*X
huge: 1500*X
monsterous: 2000*X
- where "X" is member count... total UP would of course have to be paid for, so it wouldnt be that if one person paid for 1 upgrade of 1 up, then all would get +1 to up, but rather that each member then got 1/X bonus to UP... so each upgrade wouldnt be worth much, but larger alliances can more easily procure large amounts of naq...

First I must apologize for borrowing your thread...you've a good idea and I would like to put my two cents in...Heres what I'd like to see for Alliance planets...think of it as an alternative to the current suggestion...
How it works
For ten times 1 weeks worth of alliance naq and uu income your alliance can build one of three kinds of planets. The planet will provide you with a bonus to a certain area of all the realms in your alliance. The alliance leaders choose which bonus they want to have for the alliance and once chosen it is the only bonus the alliance gets...furthermore you do not get the full bonus immediately, you must develop your alliance's planet to get the full bonus. To make this even more interesting...the facilities you build to get your bonus...can be destroyed during wars by an alliance attack called "Mothership Fleet Strike"
The Planet Types
Weapons R&D planet
This is a planet entirely devoted to Weapons Research and development, it allows youi to choose one weapon, either defense or offense, to upgrade. There are two possible upgrades for the weapon you choose. A) You can upgrade the strength of the chosen weapon by up to 50%
B) yuo can decrease the cost of the chosen weapon by up to 50%
Troop Training Planet
This is a planet entirely devoted to the development of new training techniqes for your alliance. It allows you to choose one type of unit to upgrade(excepting untrained units as they are by definition untrained). As with the Weapon planet you have two upgrade options...
A) Increase unit strength/productivity by up to 50%
B) Decrease unit training cost by up to 50%
Alliance Bank Planet
This is a planet deep withing your alliance's territory, with impenetrable ground defenses. For each banking facility you build on the planet, you increase it's ability to store naquadah by .1 % of your alliances weekly naq income. unlike the other planets, you may build as many banking facilities as your alliance can afford.
Costs
To build a planet will cost 10 times your alliances weekly naq and uu income.
Each faciity built on the planet costs .1% of your alliance's weekly naq and uu income more than the last...therefore the first facility will cost .1 percent of your alliances weekly income, the 100th facility will cost 10% of your alliance income
It takes one hundred facilities to equal a 1% upgrade/reduction of cost on the weapons/training planets. You can only have a maximum bonus of 50%
Limitations
Your alliance may only build one planet.
Your planet may only provide one bonus
Your alliance may not abandon the planet or destroy facilities, once built they are permanent
Only alliances that have 5 or more members may build a planet.
Only alliances that have been around for 3 months may build a planet
What is a Mothership Fleet Strike?
A mothership fleet strike is a new kind of attack that can only be used on alliance planets. It takes the combined power of every mothership in your alliance vs. the combined power of all the motherships in the enemy alliance, if any power is left over after the battle, it is used to "bombard" planetary facilities, destroying them. I suggest that it cost 150 turns and only be able to be used if your alliance is officially at war with the other alliance.

Why would you want people to use larger alliances?
more members= more people to upgrade
you know what? i like this idea so much im puttin it in my siggy
but more ppl means less bonus! unless everyone gets what planet says as i said 1kup gives everyone 1kup
but he said that .. i think .. +1k UP: everyone +1k UP

This is a very well thoughtout idea however, how do you propose having these alliance planets if they cost 10 times your alliances weekly naq/UU production?
This part might need a little tweaking but, overall, it would be a great addition to SGW.

Sorry I was in a chat w/forum at the time and didn't finish the suggestion...
Basically there would be an alliance "planet fund" that you can voluntarily donate naq and uu to. The alliance leaders then can build a planet when there is enough in the fund. however they cannot withdraw resources from the fund, they are only used when you click the button to build a planet, and later when you build facilities on the planet.

sorry but i cant read all 5 pages right now, i have a quick idea to add that may or may not have already been suggested...
it costs 50 MTs to make an alliance planet, and people in the alliance can donate MTs to the leader to make it
or it takes 3 MTs x how many people are in the alliance, such as 5 people x 3 MTs = 15 MTs to make the planet.
or make the price 9 MTs per person, 5people x 9 MTs = 45 MTs to make the planet.
or 40 people x 9 MTs(per person) = .....you get the idea.

perhaps MT's could be the resource for buying/improving planets? that way all alliances get equal opportunity...
