I took the liberty of highlighting the key phrase in there. It's not the real stargate. It's a game based on it, and has since become a separate universe. A universe in which, as we have seen, a lot is possible.

Freedom is important in any RPG, even more so in a MMORPG. If I wanna be a glowy eyed Asgard, I should be allowed to. Look at some commercial MMORPGs out there, you'll see adventuring parties of mixed races, classes and ..... people. Not just parties of all wizards or all warriors. Same thing should go here. Believe it or not, the races are kinda like classes, offensive, defensive, sneakeh, and rich.

And one more point. Say I found a friend. If I wanna be in his party, that shouldn't be limited just because he made a different choice in the beginning.

i vote "no" and i am losing, by a long shot..

..so i shall give you my reasons for saying no

i like that the game is a race battle, what do you get on the "Gate Page"? Yes... you see my point? Also i am getting a bit sick of all these petty squabbles between alliances. Most of my army is Goa'uld, most.

So, anyways, eitherways, i'm not too bothered.. there are more important issues within the game for me.. just remember folk, after the vote is cast you have to live with your decision ;)

I vote yes and here is why.

If someone wants to play this game as a race battle then they can do so whether the yesses win or whether the nos win.

If someone wants to play mixed race then they can only do so if the nos win.

I don't think that because some people want to play own race only that means that the people who don't should be forced to. Yes allows people to play it either way they want and as far as the show Amon is wrong. The Tok'ra had a formal alliance (what if I want to play as Jacob/Selmak) with the Tau'ri as do the Asgard.

It doesnt actually bother me, just as long as I dont end up loosing the officers of mine who I had before the changes because they are of non-goa'uld races. They have been loyal to me and we have fought well together.

And anyway, if people want to form mixed alliances then they can still do so. Being ones commander or officer is not essential for that. :)

dual purpose post... 1) bump. give it a week....
2) since as many people voted for 'only on Tuesday' as 'no' I think the swing is in favour of mixed race officer/commander allowed....

give it a week... decision forthcoming....

True it is not essential, but it is helpful...

The truth is if you vote yes to keep it the way it is...you actually give the players more room to roleplay their parts...well not really more since they have it but this option still gives us more ability to roleplay...as I have seen, there are many people who like to roleplay and take on their own parts...however there are those who just play to have fun and don't care about racial battles or roleplaying...

Shouldn't we still give the choice to the player...Viva La Freedom!!!!!!!

(These are just my views and if you don't agree with them I will not hold a grudge against you...)

Mixed races

At the end of the day its up to weather or not we want to stay true to the show or form our own way of affairs. I still really don't get the idea of an asgard and a goa'uld working together but meh.

I like things the way they are but i don't mind either way.

What The "Show" Truly Supports...

Warning: Second to last paragraph has some undetailed soilers from Season 8...

The fact of the matter between the Asgards and the Goa'ulds working together is a part of the show. They have signed a treaty called The Protected Planets Treaty...so you know if you really want to stay true to the show... :D

Those of you who still don't like the idea; remember this is not the show...eventhough it is based off the show...and if you look at some of the things early in the show's lifetime, there are many things that have changed that make the previous seasons' episodes contradict the way things are now...

More on the Asgard Goa'uld thing: Question: Where did the Tok'ra come from?
Answer: They came from a Goa'uld that decided to betray the way of the "god's" long ago...now there are no hostilities between the Tok'ra and the Asgard...thus even more backing up of the idea...

As far as the replicators go...one of the things that they can do well in the show is deceive others: They deceived Sam into believing that there was a cipher and allowing one of the replicators to make an actaully cipher. They deceived the Jaffa unto believing that the God's had sent them to punish them from turning from their "gods." As far as the replicators and the Asgard working together...oh, I have one: when Thor used that damaged arm from a replicator to tap into the replicator information grid...now there might be some replicators that would do that when they had the choice...besides we have seen that the replicators, though their main goal is to replicate and grow in numbers, some of them have feelings (mostly human form replicators)...and that android who created them...she was made like a human in many ways...she controlled the replicators...what if Jack hadn't have killed her...who knows...or what if some advanced race...Asgard...create another android that can regain control of the replicators...even Daniel was in control of the replicators for a little bit, first the human form Sam, then all of the replicators...it seems to me that you guys might have the wrong idea about which side the show supports...also if you consider that Anubis is a Goa'uld...he could control the replicators if he wanted to...I mean he is still partly ascended...because we could not send him back to the plane of existence that he belonged on...(we being a referrence to my guild, with no factual support that we are weak in fact we could easily take down Anubis...I think) :)

So... ...in conclusion the show actually supports different raced officer and commander...if you want me to, I can give you the exact episode links for all of the stuff above...though it will be a slight waste of time...though I can do it if you need to see what I am talking about...Thank you for taking the time to read my post and think about what the show truly supports... :D :) :D

If you look at it.. the Tauri.. or something of the sort.. has worked with the Gau'old (the one where SG-1 came across a gau'old training camp, training humans in tauri tactics/weapons), Sam worked with Ba'al.. there are more examples I bet but i'm far to lazy to find them..

The four races in the game and in the series: Goa'uld, Tauri, Asgard and Replicator.

Tauri/Asgard alliances - 2x06 Thor's Chariot (SG-1 goes thru a program to help the people of the world who were threatened by Heru-Er... The Asgard defeated the Goa'uld), 3x03 Fair Game (The Asgard agree to discuss the terms of The Protected Planets Treaty with the Goa'uld Representatives), 3x22 Nemesis (SG-1 helps a dying Thor defeat the Replicators that have infested his ship), 4x01 Small Victories (Carter helps Thor defeat three Asgard vessals taken over by Replicators heading towards their homeworld), 5x22 Revelations (the surviving members of SG-1 help save the last hope of Asgard procreation and try to save Thor who is taken hostage by Anubis and Osiris)...

Tauri/Goa'uld alliances - 8x16/17 Reckoning (Ba'al goes to SG-1 for help to defeat the Replicator onslought of the System Lords)... The Tok'ra (rebel Goa'ulds) have helped the Tauri on numerous occations which is impossilbe to list here...

Tauri/Replicator alliances - 5x19 Menace (Daniel tries to get Reece to stop the Replicators (toys) she created), 8x16/17 Reckoning (RepliCarter tries to get Daniel Jackson to join her and rule the galaxy - but he says no)
