Heres my beef.

I was banned for a trival offense.

LAST NOVEMBER.

I never recived any timeline on my ban, or any reason, despite wolf (allegidly still an admin) stating that it is policy to give such reasons.

The fact is Im fed up with the hypocricy from the fourm staff, yeah we have some good mods and admins, and some band ones, and some of the poorer ones have even left (psi, nuto)

However, I got a mod (sorry, no names ) to check the mod section for me.

What does Psi have to say on my ban ?

Im 'unofficaly officaly banned'

Because he was, also in his own words, TOO LAZY to notify the user.


Needless to say, that that is irksome.


So mods, what will it be ?

Will I actualy get a response, or just have yet anotehr account turn up deleted.

Not that it matters, theyre easy to make, and with proxies even IP bans dont annoy me.

many i suggest that if they do let you back in, that you are only to post 10 max a day, in normal sections.

many people do too. and this time i think wes (no matter what i think of him personally) is making a reasonable post but seeing that mods can say you're disrespecting them they;ll just lock it and (try to) forget about you.

However I think the reason Wes has done this is to try and earn another chance, and he has been very reasonable about it.

The fact is some of the mods take it too seriously.

Belive it or not, I actualy CAN behave, I just react poorley to crappy behavior from mods.

And the whole 'agree or ban' aditude is part of it.

Disagreing with mods SHOULD be allowed, that said those that (when actualy given a fourm to discuss and debat policy) get disrespectful (mod OR insignificant userbase member) should be punished.

Thats kind of hard when your accounts turn up banned, even when you go thru channels.

Last week, I recived a new account that had previously been a multi of another user.

I talked to Rhett(**Filtered**) on MSN and got premissions for assencion and Tok`ra secion added to the account, next day or day after account is deleted, and everyone (mod contacts says it was pookie (reality)


It seems to me that the mods cant even get their bans straight, when a user than an admin had de facto unbanned thru giving his account premissions turns up deleted.


EDIT: HElls_ANgel, I was more than reasonable about it, I was getting to the point were I didnt care anymore that Im banned.

As I said in the post that got me banned last november, this fourm is becoming more and more irrelvent to the game.


Lots of the things that are REQUIRED nowadays for mods, like posting a reason when locking a thread, were partly due to me harrasing Psi for things like that.

Howbout when Bryan and others got banned cause of the dude that hacked jTest causing fourm to have a hissy fit ?

Lots of people, because a well known player was banned, got behind the whole dont want harras fourm to unban bandwagon

Well, when the autoban script got me and others last year, I tried to do a similar thread.

It was locked and I was basicly told 'you dont matter. Wait, you'll been seen to eventualy'

Anyone else see HYPOCRICY in that (aimed not just at mods, but the SGW community in general)

Okay - I'm going to allow this to stay - as long as it doesn't get out of hand and start throwing grandiose accusations around.

It is our policy that if a warning or suspension is administered that the reasons for such warnings and suspensions are given. Some are better at following this rule than others, but nobody is perfect (not even me ).

I have, recently, re-iterated to all Mods and Admins that if you are going to warn someone publicly, or recommend them for suspension publicly, that you must also state your reasons (publicly and via pm).

Additionally, all suspension MUST be posted in the 'Thread of Shame' in the announcements section, and I intend to make it policy that such posts are also accompanied by a timescale for the ban.

As regards spam, some mods are more tolerant of it than others (sometimes we have to be or we'd just lock every thread!) - and again, I have asked the mods to use common sense (which in general all of them do). When warning for spam, a mod should take into account the type of thread a thread has become, and how those others in the thread are posting. Sometimes it is simpler just to lock the thread!

Finally, please remember that the Forum Staff are only trying to do their best to make the forum a safe and enjoyable environment (and that includes limiting spam). We do not always get it right, but we always do what we believe is best.

Any word on when my ban is up ?

Cause Ive never been told anything.

Which is a big part of why I've been, and prolly wil continue to, flout bans as the mood strikes me.

That said, if a mod/admin CAPABLE (not calling anyone out, just that it hasnt happend yet) of being respectful tells me the ban remains for X ammount of time Id likley obey it .

I do agree that you should have been informed of how long your ban was the first time. Everybody should be informed of how long their bans are, or have it posted in an area of how long default bans are. First offense 1 week, 2nd 1 month, and so on. Maybe it is though and I missed it.

Regardless, If I remember correctly, everytime you've been "banned" tok'ra, you've gotten around the ban by creating another account and posting again in the forums.

That can be interpreted as a challenge and as often as you have done something like that, it has probably pissed some mods off.

Look at it like this, screw around, get warned, screw around some more get forum banned, go around ban by creating another account means you get banned longer, and you've created what? 10+ other accounts to get around bans?

I was ignored.

And when I got a mod to look for the details in the mod section what do I find ?

I've been preaching reform of that type for SGW since before it was popular, which is part of why Im banned.
