What i like is the sweet irony of making such a big deal of generaloneil saying that guy is making too big a deal of this

I agree size is not important, I do not believe this is something that needs to be highlighted really as I believe oneill was referring to the stature of the character, as was pointed out above perhaps someone like JS or Bad Wolf himself leaving the alliance would be something to note.

I do see the point you are making to a degree, but vthis person has a voice, i don't even know which alliance he was in.

But once he posted he was accused of doing to for gain or because he was a traitor, if he was such a minor charactor why was his charactor torn to pieces.

my point is that if he was such a small charactor, why didn't people just let it go

It's pretty simple, he stated what he did, and as is customary on a discussion forum, we discussed his motives. It would be naive to assume straight off htat he is telling gospel truth as there have been so many lies in this.

If you can not see what other smaller players are seeing now, by the way you have spoken about this player.

how he/they iare unimportant

They are going to read this & think they don't give a F### if i am in the war or not, I am nothing to them. you have done yourself nothing but harm by supporting this post.

In a war you need all your players, i tried to show you this, but i can see
i have failed.

good luck anyway

The very fact there are two theads on it clearly shows that they are important, the very existence of our posts are a demonstration of their importance.

Hey that was totally on topic! :?

That's off topic :-D

Yeah, size doesn't matter in this stage of the war(atm, I wish I could bank some of my strike to make farming easier). However, if he really wanted to inform people outside of his command, he should have posted on his alliance forum where he could discuss it with the people he was aban... leaving. Under the circumstances of the post and the "enlightenment", I have to say generaloneill's posts in that thread (leading up to that one) often agreed my sentiments, even though they might be slightly more... verbose.

Well I never even saw the thread until a load of others had already posted and to be honest had I come across it first I would have ignored it. As you have most likely seen I responded not to what the original poster said but the subsequent posts.

Do you guys really have to get personal over all of this...
So what if some alliances have an average army size under 2 mils...I ll tell you what those guys can do...let it be DDII, OSL or some CIA alliance:

- They can recover+ advance via farming---> COP, CIA
- They can be in line so when I or someone else masses the planet/planets they are there to pick them up
- they can destroy those punny defences we have...without us who have strikes of 100bils etc...having to mass them and lose some naq for really nth
- they can help phasing
- they can raid, farm you and kill those little of spys you have
- in general they can be a pain in the ass....and can contribute to the war as much as me...ETL or you eX

That is only my opinion...you may have your own...but I say those guys play a major role in this war...

Sorry I didnt find the strength to write the whole thing again STI so if you want you can just sum up what I was trying to say in that quote...that is my opinion...but our opinions can be different....I think we should understand those that are saying that little ones cannot do a thing also...or if not...at least respect their opinion...and just share with them those which you have

I think the fact that AD thought his leaving somehow deserved a post in the galactic forum was the reason why it deserved the response by Generel Oneill.

Granted, size doesn't matter, but if someone with a 1mil army size is going to publicly declare his reasons for leaving. Then he has also invited the public to comment on his reason and all that good stuff.

I personally didn't care how self-important AD thinks he is, hence the "Good Job, here's a cookie".

This isn't really about writing off smaller players.

If my alliance had a 1mil army player who did his own thing rather then be part of the alliance, then yea, good riddance if he decides to leave. If we have a 1mil army player supplying MT's, or farming CoP accounts every turn or basically doing whatever he can to cause problems, then I would be just as sad to see him go as I would a 50mil+ army player.

I agree 100% with what Shinobii said. Now, in another thread someone mentioned that because of their small army size that their role in the war was minimal, that is far from the truth. Yes, it is very hard, and near impossible for a guy under 1 mil to mass a person who is over 20 mil(assuming that big person has a decent defense), but this war(and the game in general) isn't just about massing, but rather farming and keeping the team together. Some players are not great raiders, or massers, but they are great at keeping fellow members morale high, and that is just as important as a big member, and often times more important if the big member doesn't do jack for the alliance

As for the guy who left the war, whatever. He apparently had his reasons for leaving, and we have ours for staying in it. It is best to leave it at that in my personal opinion.

I think the real point here is:

Does your ingame signficance affect how your posts are regarded?

And the answer has to be yes. Sure there are instances where people with fairly insignificant accounts ingame command great respect on the forum, but these are the exception.

SGWars has become very clique like over time - some of this is because of friendships built up over time, but it is also your ingame power. Power ingame commands respect on the forums, simple as that. Of course there are exceptions, but I think most people react completely different when Corky, Lego or Geoff post than if a 2mil army size guy that no one has ever heard of. Just because they have been around longer and have a bigger account - does that really make them more significant on the forums?
(Sorry to guys mentioned as examples - often your posts are gold  )

Anyway, I just think that it is the person that counts. If this person felt morally bound to post about their reasons for quitting, then so be it - if you feel they are so insignificant then don't post and their thread would pass by as a blip in the forums.

Perhaps leading by example is something one must first employ before entertaining any type of advisory position?

Especially since you already deleted one reply to your clear attempt at derailment without actually bothering to acknowledge your own mistake.

The wonderful thing about BB Code is that nothing is ever done forever until it is quoted by someone else.
