Extortion - (demand goods for not massing) - right or wrong?

sofar i see 122 saying it is a big problem. I dont see it as a problem. I dont see extrotion as honorable & i would never do it myself, but it is a part of the game.

If person A is trying to extort naq/uu/AT from person B, person B should come to the forums here & post about it & try get help from the community to deal with person A. Person By can even join a alliance/trianer alliance or become the officer of someone who can protect person B from person A(even if only for a limited time untill person A is total smashed).

Leave this problem for the community to deal with it.

What can be done is a seperate section here on the forum is created for extortion problems.

That said, the VAST majority of accounts in the game dont read the fourm AT ALL.

Prehaps have a mention of how to deal with extortion added to the ingame FAQ, and recomend coming to the fourm.

Fact is, in most cases some noobs getting extorted the person doing it is gona get massed to hell and back.

Both threads were locked, both were in the general section, all ended with a 'report to the admin'.

For If anything, I believe the threads are near-proof of the danger we face by turning over responsibility for non-cheat related issues to Forum; apathy.
In both cases the demand was for money, the threads were locked, and in both cases by different people you two were told "Take it to the admins"

Granted, I don't know if it would have mattered had the threads stayed open;
I do wonder if our community hasn't had a shift in mindset. From Flavar saying:

A bully of teh sort we will take care of is somebody who does things like:
either you become my officer/alliance member, send me naq or UU you will be sabbed. This kind of bullying will be taken care off.

To "Take it to the admins" and "Forum! Save us!"

Looking at the poll I would not agree that they screwed up:

I do not, however, think discussion and speculation on topics of this nature needs to continue here - an accusation has been made - but it needs to be made to the GAme Admins and investigated properly.

That's Wolf359 speaking; and looking at the poll, is he not really just acting like the community wants? Doesn't the community want this sort of thing to be left to the admin? Or have 100 odd players missclicked?
I see those threads as a rather ominous view of what may come; I'd rather our community did not turn into a bunch of bleating sheep.

I wonder if I haven't misread you bunch. As I said, if you all aren't willing to do something yourselfs (and I'd say at least 80% of the naysayers are coming from that position)... then yeah, lets hand it over to Forum; it can't hurt.

I have an idea ...............

one of the common arguments when people go player X said Y to me is

they go it was faked etc......

so I think a new option should be added to all PMS sent to players

call it (make public, shame , brag, betray ....whatever)

if u wish u can select any 1 message sent to u and make it so anyone in the game when viewing your info can see the message 2 .......

so if a player sent me a message i could make it a PUBLIC message

then i can post in forums and say go look

then NO_ONE can say it isnt really what was said

when a player says bad words to you (u can show the world)

when a player attempts to back-stab alliancemates ...u can back stab them and show the world ........

basically ......u could add a new level to this game where u could use peoples words against them in a much easier manner, one in which they cannot deny they said any of it

If the survey needs to be redone, which I think it is slightly un representative of the players of the game, then admin should include a survey in game. This way we know for sure that those people that play the game only get one vote. (that of course does not take into account multies) But we all know several people on the forums have more than one identity on the forum, meaning they can vote more than once. Ingame, they would only get one vote, as long as they are not multi players...Also it would include those players that do not look at the forum. It would let all players speak not just those that spend time on the forums.

and yes it is a wargame, although extortion is demanding goods for NOT attacking...

it should be noted that sending messages is not illegal (if they do not threaten the real life person) nor is attacking.

my main concern is if it gets frequent, and goes 'lower and lower' down the ranks, ultimately newer players will find the game threatening, not a war game, and that there is no point in trying to grow and compete.

i am open to hearing what everyone has to say on this.

The comments and polling (qualitative and quasi-quantitative) indicate that a significant number of the SGW population would like Forum to address extortion.

ironically, i've heard of someone who threatened to mass if someone tried to repay him for giving them something >_>

so, there ARE many differant reasons why it MIGHT be valid in this game...
the question i ask, is do you really want to put more on the admins? or do we want to start fighting it ourselves?
