Do HAVE to play in ascended server?

dont have the time to look it up, but som1 whined that ppl ascending and not playing ascended server is cheating or something.

Becuase they get the main bonusesm which admin designed to encourage you to play ascended, therefor can be see as exploitation.

Its not really cheating, but those who ascend JUST for the main bonuses are seen as leachers by most. And, as Phoenix said it can also be seen as exploitation. which is why you lose half your main bonuses when you go on vac in ascension(people try to ascend just for the main bonuses, dont want to be descended, go on vac, ect ect... that is exploitation of the games bonuses, and is why you now lose half of your main bonuses when on ascension vac).

Plus, the ascended server is great in its self, in my opinion its worth playing. I honestly dont see why so many people hate it... :/

There is no requirement to play ascended but honestly, it's a much more interesting game than main, albeit somewhat slower.

However, I don't think it's fair to call someone a cheater who ascends multiple times and then doesn't play ascension actively. There is a certain amount of game "play" that you can do on ascension in a maintenance mode that requires only a couple of minutes a day. Is it required to "play" on the ascension server for dozens of minutes or hours in order to be considered "playing" ascension?

I "play" ascension actively which mostly consists of logging in and using up DMU on something. I have a goal in mind for which stat should be updated next and such but I don't spend hours on ascension every day, nor do I spend hours on main either.

In truth, I spend far more time reading threads in the SGW Playground, err Forums, than I do actually playing the game.

its ok if they dont play cause they get turned into farms, and if you need to you can descend them cause they dont play

Indeed. That is the issue.

The key is:
Are they just not playing, or are they on Vacation mode?

If they are just not playing the server, then cries of 'cheat' are silly.
However, I personally feel there is a very valid call of abuse if they are running Vac mode on ascended, and still playing main.
If they are just not playing, they can be descended but on Vac mode, not only can they not be descended, but they still receive half their bonus.

Someone can do a rapid succession of bare-bones ascensions, get 15% to all stats + ascended weaponry (the real bonus imho), and be far better off than someone who spent a lot of effort on their ascensions - sacrificing their main account for the bonus', expecting to be able to descended those who didn't sacrifice their main account but who still recieve the same goods.

The is currently a multi-page thread in the ascended section about 'fixing' Vac mode. Some are for, others against.

That is what I, and I believe phoenix was refering to as exploitation.

Ascending to gain the bonuses and then putting the ascension account on vac mode so you can keep from getting descended or farmed up there isn't fair to those who can't ascend because everyone ahead of them is using their bonuses for an advantage.

If you don't want to play the ascended server, then you shouldn't ascend. Period. It's simply that simple.

Nope. Only if you were on Vac mode.
Even then, it's not as if someone could report you to game admin; it is only 'cheating' ( a more apt term is 'abuse' ) in the eyes of some players.

At worst you'd get massed on main, but if you are in a war, that'd happen anyways.

Your just an inactive. If you want I and I'm sure others are willing to explain to you the basics and get you settled in, ascension really doesnt take more then afew minutes a day.

But, the exploitation were refering to is someone ascending then going on vac in ascension and keeping half there bonuses. As you are now, you can at least be descended(if someone wanted too), however if you go on vac then your only exploiting the server bonuses.
