Built a desktop over the weekend;
E6300 Intel Processor Core2 duo, 1.86ghz
http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/ ... CatId=2396
Nvidia EVGA nForce 680i SLI (there's a bunch of them so I'm not sure exactly which one I have)
Has Dual 1gb ethernet ports, capacity for 6SATA harddrives + 4DVD roms, 8GB RAM, 8channel High Definition Audio, 10USB ports, 1+1 firewire port
http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/ ... CatId=2541
XFX GeForce 6800 256mb SLI pci Express HD
HD graphics, dual DVI ports, HD/S-Video port, the card itself has a bridge/connector to run Twin graphic cards.
http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/ ... CatId=1560
250GB SATA Harddrive (for 7$ less was the 160gb...) 97$
It currently only has a 1gb stick of ram in it, no big deal to me. Easy to add on, and I'm in no big hurry.
It's also got a Thermadore 550watt power supply.
The case was purchased years ago but it was never used, it had a 250watt power supply in it at first.
Had a few issues at first, the power switches were plugged into the wrong pins, and the processor fan wouldn't go on properly; started up the computer, went into the bios system monitor and the processor shot up to 106degrees celcius. It's stable now at about 39.
Can't think of anything else I've missed. It's a very mean machine, very fast. I put down 1300$ for the parts, nothing extra and fancy that wasn't needed right now. I only got what I needed to get the computer up and running. I'll get the rest later, the computer was expensive enough and I don't want to put all of my money into it. SO, I'm going to cool off the purchases.
And no, my parents did not pay for it. This computer is hopefully going to last 2-4 years without getting seriously outdated. I know Quad Core processors are out and 768mb graphics cards are too, but I'm not concerned. I can easily put in a 2nd graphics card, easily change the processor, add another sata harddrive (the case has room for 3 out of the max 6 supported by the motherboard), etc. At this point I'm waiting for RAM prices to drop a bit more before I put in 4 sticks of 2GB and I'm in no hurry.
That's about it really. I'm extremely happy with the speed it's running at. Gave it a little test whip last night and I'm happy with the results.

nice rig Pungemo
I might have to drop a few more $$ to get another SATA in there and more more more graphic card!
i lub my twin ethernet ports though, and my High Definition audio.
I'm relaly happy with my motherboard, really. the computer is a BEAST too. it's super fast,
but thats coming from someone who's been using a pentium M 1.8ghz 1gb ram 54gb harddrive, 64mb graphics radeon x300 laptop from DELL for 2 years.
