Actually, I disagree with you. In my opinion, the greatest defence is a big offense. See, if you have a big strike and myabe a crappy defence of 4 mil (sounds like someone I know....) people would think twice before hitting you. I'm not saying all of my officers have that, but its the case for 2 of them.
Put it this way. If Pianomutt was still playing and had a 10 mil defence and a 2 tril strike, and 50 bil naq out every turn, would you still hit him?
But only one of my officers are basically inactive, but has a nice UP bonus. The rest are active and log in regularly and have decent defences.
Also heres a tip to everyone: Raising your defence is not the way to get a farmer off of you. I know when I farm and people do that, I just raise my strike, doesn't bother me, sure it doesn't for many. To get someone to stop farming you, send a message asking them to stop. If they don't, mass them and 9 time out of 10, they will stop. The other 1 out of 10 times is a war will follow
