A very interesting question, and I think the answer is that either a) they have a bank account bigger than the section of the brain that processes common sense and/or b) they are lulled into the misconception that they actually have a chance of catching up or c) they're too damn lazy and unskillful to play the game as what it is, a free text based MMO.

Anyway...back on topic before we find ourselves modded.

Buying for cash is for people that like to buy success. Success needs to be achieved to feel worth it. Actually I should be talking about selling for cash...I can't think of what to say now. :(
