Lifers -- having too many of them is a problem

While I acknowledge the idea of lifers is good, I'd like to suggest a slight modification on the maximum amount of lifers that be allowed to train.

The idea goes like this: Lifers should only be trained up to a max percent of one's total army size. I think 30% would be a fair number. As people grow they'll train up more. If people don't grow, then they don't have worry about losing more and more to lifers everytime the go to war or train up and down attackers/spies/ac agents.

To prevent people from abusing this by giving away their uu to get lifer's untrained, it should 30% of the max size you have ever had trained.

I think its fine as it is, you guys wanted to be able to end wars right? well miners gets ''killed'' by getting trained up and down. One of the many cassulties of war. If your account is full of lifers due to war, you are out of the war :P

lol it's highly ineffective because the only way to end a war is for there to be rules of war implemented ingame. Going down to lifers hardly declares one out of the war -- ask Freespirit, who at one point in the war was down to nothing but lifers, but he managed to take the income from those lifers, buy more AT's and raid his way back. So having lifers or not having lifers really has no baring on ending war imo.

I believe that he is referring to people untraining miners, training them as raiders or guards, buying many mercs, untraining normal units, retrain as miners. It is cheap to do, even in mass quantities(at just 1.5 k for miners and 2 k for raiders/guards). The only drawback to doing this currently is that you end up with crap loads of useless lifers, which this idea would prohibit. :? The current 1% loss rate isn't that big of a deal either.

not really, those wise enough never trained their excess to miners to get the lifers.

your idea, would encourage me to use 100% merc armies

once im up to 30% lifers

i would untrain 10million uu, buy 10million mercs

train the uu back

and let the mercs die slowly i woudlnt care

i could do that over and over

True, people do train to assassins and then raid to grow or mass, but then they can't farm for naq against people who have defenses without mass losses. Same goes for training them into raiders, and if trained into spies or guards they can be massed. Miners are the only real 'safe' spot to put them and still have them out of harms way..well, besides hanging them in the broker I suppose, but that isn't exactly as convenient as having them onhand...

the problem with that sorta is.......... when a person masses away like 2 million supers.........the current system gives a person time to react so they dont lose 2 million mercs that instant u know..........

perhaps have a max amount of lifers possible? so that it is impossible to have like 50 mill lifers...

some have suggested away to use market turns to lesson lifers

i say 3x market turns, decrease 10% of your lifers or something to that effect

that it be possible to fix a pickle u put yourself in, but be very hard to abuse since it would take months of market turns to get it way lower

I like that idea. It would be a pain to do during war situations, and it wouldn't affect smaller accounts as they wouldn't need to do it :)

i always keep my lifers a bare minimum...at the moment i have 13% of my army as lifers still its sucks i wish there werent lifers to begin with
