Protecting officers-is it worth it

So in last few days I got numerous hate-threatning messages to stop hitting their officer or else...Ussualy this PMs come to me from people half my army size, protecting their officers with UP no more then 5 or 6k.
Now what i wonder is it worth for anyone to go out and put online his couple of mill UU,supers, waste ammounts of naq and turns, possibily involving both allainces just over some nOOb officer who got hit once over some naq.
Couse as far as I see this officer commander deal is that commander pays officer not the other way around.Commander losses 10% to 30% of his income, officer is just a leach there. And I see no point of endangering my account and potentialy my alliance just over a 1 bill naq hit.

Is officer protection worth it?

P.S.
This is no threat of any kind this is just a question and I do declare peace if I farm someone more then twice in short period of time and if he ask me to do so or his commander.

I protect my officers, but I don't threaten the attackers the first time.

When I notice that my officer has been attacked several times by the same person I send a pm asking why he did it...

If it is due to excessive naq, i'll just ask him not to do it anymore, but I'll also tell my officer not to be that stupid to leave that much naq out...

that is the thing I tell my officers: you don't want them to attack you, don't give them a reason then.

Some people tend to get quite pissed when you dare to touch their officers. IMHO those people just do it to feel big and important...

I honestly don't think having officers is worth it at all. Saves you a lot of trouble and naq ;) I only ever let friends join me as officers when I want to help them with a little naq boost for a short period of time or when some idiot is trying to bully them.

My officers = my friends.
So I don't care if I lose some of my resources, because my rule always was 'friends above all'. That is how I play game - apparently some people are not able to understand that, calling me names for that, but hey, do I need to care for such selfish people? No, I don't. :)

I let naq attacks go, but if I see massing, farming, raiding and that they are active officers, I put my nose in.

I am of the oppinion that overly protecting and "kuddling" of officers isn`t really helping them. If they want to get anywhere they need to learn to fend for themselves and take responasability for their actions - instead of having a CO probing their attack logs and coming down hard on any1 they come in contact with. If you raised your kid like that he`d grow up into one disfunctionall personality... :P

I can relate to that - I protect my guys, but only when they are not the ones, who were silly. But when I see clear provocation from other side, I have no other way than to step in. I know few people who overly protect people, even tho when they are acting like jerks and when they lie to people. That is not something I would ever do - I had once officer who lied to me, I found out, so I kicked him for that.

So yeah, people should be reasonable about protecting officers/friends. It's hard at times, but in the long run it will benefit these friends sometimes to get their lesson.

I hit for 500m naq with my raiding strike as a minimum, so it isn't really that bad.

i stand up for my officers when i see they are being farmed by another player over a short period of time. i normally let one-off hits slide unless theyve already done something to annoy me.

but if its something they got themselves into, i try not to get myself into a position that would end with me getting dragged into a situation i kno i cant win.

and i also hit for a minimum of 500mill naq. with my raiding strike its pretty much all profit (minus the couple of k naq for repair, lol)

it all depends, if a guy does one naq hit, no matter how big, then thats fair. if the guy farms your officer over and over, then woop his ass.
although my officer is very capable of protecting himself :-D

i think it also depends on the officer, if the guy doesn't log on enough to bank thats his fault..... i don't protect stupidity but if its uncalled for (massing for massing or for raiding) i try to step it as much as i can
It's not whether you get knocked down, it's whether you get up.

I had more in mind when your protection means long time war,not when you have to do 2 clicks and forgett about it.
