Question to the masses

OK, I have been a beleiver in helping the little guys. I agreed with and still agree with the army size caps , but I am starting to have a major problem with something I am seeing more and more of.

The limits are there to help smaller players grow but I see more and more players that are not even 50 mill yet selling for $$. I don't mind them selling for $$ but if they have no will to grow for what ever reason then the limits need to be raised for the larger players to grow. If everyone actually tried to grow as fast as the can then there would be more accounts at the 100 mill limit and then maybe the limit would be raised.

An thoughts, suggestions?

I would say start enforcing the rules about selling resources.

I do not believe the Cap is related to people selling resources.

He did not appear against the caps per say but those that start selling resources before they reach it for $$.

While I am a firm beliver in helping my mates who are working hard already with the "extra" resources.

In all games there will be markets for resources, Some make it easy some difficult. Some players buy an account just to profit from it. Many do it quietly so no one really cares.

To grow as fast as possible means not to get involved in wars and not to help others, to keep a low profile and be on 24/7 to bank, raid etc...

If the problem is a majority of players reaching 50M are selling for $$ then I think that is a separate issue than the caps.

At 50Million I plan on using more of the Naq for UP etc... instead of buying UU so that I can reach 75Mil and 100Mill and 110Mil.

To me breaking thru the Cap like Legoless did is an awsome goal. If I wanted $$ I would of spent the last 5 minutes invoicing one of my clients which is more than enough to buy my way beyond it.

I speak for the masses

We, the people, would deplore any move toward an increase in the cap. The Cap exists as a counter-weight that keeps the game balanced.

We, the people, also understand that some people do not grow as fast as is possible. We, the people, get involved in wars, politics and on occasion, we, the people, go on vacation.

However we, the people, also feel that too many people are exploiting the game for economic advantage. We, the people, however, do not see a legitimate way to reduce this.

We, the people, rest.

Just a quick thought before i get into the rest of it. The "CAP" is not actualy a physical cap but more a "bottle neck" (this is just for players that may read this and not know what happens when you hit the 100mil mark)

Right now for my thoughts, i think at this moment in time even with players selling resources the player average size is growing, i have not been playing this game for as long as most but i have seen a dramatic jump in the amount of people who are getting "big" i have no problem with players wanting to sell resources for $$ i just don't buy them simple as that, i go for the normal game trades naq for uu etc etc.

My thoughts on the 100mil "bottle neck" i think it could be changed maybe tighten it so that you stop any unit making and maybe unable to get more troops from trades etc etc but then that would make it boring for the guys at 100mil mark! so i say move the mark from 100mil to maybe 150mil or 200mil.

In my opinion the reason why resources are worth so much in this game is the amount of time spent in the game it takes to get anywhere. Because it is so difficult to get anywhere, it becomes an issue of "working" to get to the top, thus resources become worth money. For example, 100k uu most people can raid in 30 min (from what I'm told, I generally don't raid). This adds up to 1 mil in 5 hours. which going at $40 or so $ per mil which I think the rate is around is $8 USD per hour. I believe this is above the base wage in most countries.

Why bore yourself raiding, or "working" when you can do your real job, get mabye $20 an hour easily and buy uu that way. In this way resources will always be worth real $$. The only way to make them worth less is to either offer them at a low rate from the game, which doesnt do anything inherently except kill the rates from players selling and mabye cheapen it for those buying or make it easier to catch up, if you can raid 200k in an hour, rates would go from $40 a mil to $20 a mil I'd imagine.

Why do large players sell for resources? 50 mil uu is equivilent to mabye 6 bil per turn, or 10k uu per turn, or 500k over a day, doing nothing but collecting naq and buying uu, ignoring unit production. This is $20 a day from doing **Filtered**, when money such as this is involved it becomes less a game and more a "job" that requires "working", although for the large players they need not do so.

Why do the smaller players sell for resources? It is the blurring of job and game that may cause this, I am finding it hard to justify not selling for resources when the uu is worth $100's of dollars, I view it as a game, as a lot of small players likely do, not a job. So the money value is there, and the fact that I can earn money by "playing a game"... come on, its the dream job.

The only way the rates can be reduced is if the game is periodically reset so investments arent kept

They are offered on the market at terrible for the seller rates.

It is made easier to catch up.

Will anything be done in these departments? likely not, the market mabye.

- Edit -

The caps?

If they are increased because of the auto raid 500k a day the 50 mil players have, they will quickly get to the cap... whoops its just become harder to catch up. Still 100k raiding, except the larger players are selling 1 mil auto raid units a day. Oh the rates would probably decrease a little bit after the majority get there because mores being sold, doesnt make it easier to catch up though.

I'm not totally against getting rid of the caps, just looking at it from a purely economic angle.

- Second Edit -

Thurfir, I don't know that banning the selling of resources would stop it, trades through msn etc would continue, it would be more in the dark however... because of the game almost being like a job there is a value attached and thus trading will go on.

I may be mistaken but here I go

50m army or above you cannot recieve uu by brokers or direct but can raid

100m army or above you cannot recieve uu by brokers, by direct nor raid

ergo if your reaching 100m army size then you still have plenty of scope to grow

your attack
your defense
your covert
your UP
your planets

the only thing that really makes an affect, due to your army size being so great is

plague at 2k per turn, but if you sell or give the excess then you lose nothing

simple way around it,

either sell for naq to increase your stats
help others
sell for $$$

so personally I say leave the cap where it is until you get a hell of alot more people reaching the 100m cap

personally who needs to raid when you get to 100m, its quicker to use a turns naq

50 mill you can no longer send or receive uu in broker

75 mill you can no longer raid(strictly UP growth)

100 mill the plague sets in killing 2000 TRAINED units per turn.

Thanks for the responses guys, I do agree with many of you. I also disagree with a few. I problem is I see better then 30 people in this game who build up to just under 50 mill and then drop down as far as 12 mill then build up again. This is a severe advantage to them that I can't use. I am struggling to reach the 75 mill limit. As I said I don't mind the cap I'm just wondering when it will be raised. Also when I said grow as fast as possible I did mean not going to look for war but I would never hold it against someone for protecting themselves and their friends. I was refereing to those (And yes I have seen this in the market) who complain about the Big Guys massive armies, but sell their UU for $$. They are not trying to grow but yep they want us held down to their level and thats my problem.

From my (the smaller players) point of view the cap is good, because it gives us a chance to catch up. However it's going to take ages for me 8Mil army to cath up with the likes of Lore and Reborn. So I dont think it's really fair on them having to wait on me to catch up.

Also even if many of us did catch up, there are going to be plenty new player who are now also far behind on army size. So would that mean the cap stays until they catch up?...as you can tell we would be stuck in a loop.

Keep the cap for a while yes, and increase it at some point yes. But there are always going to be players who are behind in army size.

The way I see it is the cap does not effect my growth, so by all means do what you want with it.

raise the limts is good .

but maybe introduce something too help the newer players catch up
i say keep the raid ban at 75mil but alow growth without plague

increse the amount a raider gets per sussefull raid if his army is below 10mil
and lower the amount he gets per raid every 10mil

so at <10mil army you get say 50% or what ever it is per 15
and >10mil but <20mil you get 40%
etc etc this would alow the smaller players too catch up via raids.

there is a post somewhere about only the top players should be alowed too sell for $$ this is one way too make those who sell for cash fight for it a bit

if your not top page ya cant sell for cash and doing so = a massing by the 1st page guys. something like that might stop peeps hiding and only selling for cash. ya only need too be in the top 30 its not a big deal

No one likes them.

At your growth rate Lore it shouldn't be too long, very impressive is the account. Legoless set up a nice system with those planets.

The bottlenecks need to be raised. I just do not know when. There will hopefully always be new smaller players, so do they remain for them? Or should they be changed when X number of players reach a point?

Would be nice to see more players push pass the 100M again fighting the plague, I think that is an awsome goal. There really is less challenge for someone at that point reaching the new bottleneck.
