hey guys/girls i am not at all active on this forum much so i am not sure if this topic exists or not. anyways i am posting this to tell the masses about the system set up by Stanford University. they do not use a supercomputer for calculations they rely on a community of people donating their computer capacity so that Stanford can create proteins to help fight disease.
please read about it and consider letting the program run while u are not on(like when u are asleep or hopefully at work and doing nothing that involves a computer) because this can help a ton of people.

i have the program and i know several people who do as well. thanks

Deep within Noob Cave, you find a strange pool filled with a glowing blue liquid. You think back to what your mother told you about unfamiliar liquids found in caves.
You're pretty sure she said "Drink it! What's the worst that can happen?"

If you cannot convince them, confuse them.

there is one for SETI as well:

I've found that these programs run my computers at 100% processor power. Has anyone else found the same?

No offence, and shoot me down for being paranoid but I don't trust anything on the internet these days. Hell, I don't even trust charities, they're emotional blackmailers. Seems there are more and more elaborate and intriquate ways to obtain information from people.

You could also argue that it already knows where you live, what you ate for breakfast, and who you slept with in the past 12 years.
A slightly toned down version of that is my personal idea.
You can't prevent them from knowing, so who cares if they find out.
And heck yes, I used to think you could keep things secret on the net, yea.

They are supposed to, they use up the extra processing power in your computer that you arnt using for it to use.
You can change the settings which would make it say only 90% processor power.
Oh and I run Folding@Home 24/7 on my Playstation 3, and run SETI when I'm not on the computer.
