I was wondering if an experienced Ascended Player could give a few hints and tips about raiding on ascended.
How is it different to main?
What ranks do you start at?
Do you need to drop your rank?
How many planets should you expect per 15 turns?
Stuff like that.
Raiding Guide?

how is it different:
well basically if you piss of someone in main or ascencion they can completely wipe out your account.
When stronger players farm you they will also often decide on smashing your defecne and stealing your income planets setting you back 10-20 days in your account
you don't need to drop your rank although tehre is a rank modifier on how far below and above you can attack
depends who you hit if you have 1 weapon strike expect around 1-2k planets
those that have bigger strikes can get better hits

yes there is a point, if you lay low and build you can get somewhere...
Start off with growing your LF powers to fuel building more techs... Get a good covert and defense, and boost your fleets, in time if your defense and covert are high enough, and you dont piss anyone off you can grow and become properous
Dont think that just because income planets can be raided that there is no point, it is just more challanging than main...
If you ask people nice enough, they will usually stop raiding you, but if you grow fast you need to have a good defense and covert

You cant exactly lay low and get somewhere and your in DD anyway. You can run around with a crap defense and tons of planets and chances are you wont be touched.
back on topic:

Raiding is probably the most destructive thing you can do on ascended and funnily enough it helps you tons.
There, why ascended is stupid, summed up in one sentence.

that is why I have said that resource planets should be unraidable. One, it would make Initiate Revolution a viable option (it currently is not). For those that don't know, Initiate Revolution is a covert tactic that untrains some of your enemy's resource planets and makes them undeveloped planets again. Basically your spies go in and foment dissension on your money making planets and cause them to go on strike. If it were just undeveloped planets that were raidable, I would be amenable to that suggestion. As it is now, at least for me, it would be much easier (and better) for me to raid income planets than to untrain them. One, they lose the planets instead of just having them untrained, and two, I gain the income planets.

No. Well, almost no. You have a chance of growing in ascension if your main account is super strong and you're willing to use it as a meat shield. Otherwise, you will be repeatedly raided and farmed being set back weeks at a time with absolutely no recourse or options open to you.
Anyone who advises you otherwise already has you on their hit list to raid or farm as soon as you're large enough to make it worthwhile to them.

Perhaps, but I make ~4600 planets a day. I spend most of my time in ascension trying to build up charisma and production with the tiny bit of life force that I generate. The rest of my resources go into covert, assassins, and defense.
Today, someone raided around 10,000 worshiping planets from my huge stockpile of 258,000. The damage to my 6 billion defense was almost 80 million in DMU which I make at the blistering rate of 10 million a turn. Also, they managed to destroy nearly 1,000 defense planets (x5 = 5000 planets lost).
All in all, 4 days of planet production and more than a full day of income to repair and retrain those planets. Absolutely nothing I could do. I've been training planets into defense for the past several weeks and just recently managed to break 6 billion defense.
Since I can't touch them in ascended, I'll find out their main ID and rape their planets in main. Four days of repair and loss in ascension = 4 days of planetary rape in main. Seems fair to me.

Meh, I'm not crying about it. Farming and raiding is part of the game. My point to the author of the post is that despite sometimes meager preparations, ascended is a pretty hard server to break into and do well with, unless you are a) part of a big alliance that is feared or b) have some way to strike back in main when/if you're hit on ascended.
As it has been (correctly) pointed out multiple times during the CoP/CIA war, main and ascended are linked. Actions in one server have consequences in the other, as there should be. So, while you do have to be careful who you hit in main, you need to be equally careful of who you hit in ascended.
