I think in general it is a good idea, but could do with a bit of tweaking.
The biggest problem I see is the risk that it would turn the game into 2 different servers, one (the "normal" realm) with big people, and one ("purgatory") with the smaller players.
To prevent this, I feel some kind of time limit has to be enacted which means you cannot stay in purgatory indefinitely.
Another problem is that people may use moving to purgatory to sell their turns at market rates when they have run out of MTs. Not that many would want to sell at this rate when higher rates are available in the black market.
Jedi: The MS update is a double-edged sword. Yes, players now keep 60% of capacity, but this also means they get 60% less AP from their mothership. So the ascended realm will suffer.

lg+1, 1 mill attackers.. will be 197 bill
Throw in a kickass MS, 2x, 394 bill strike
Then for fun, attack planets! Each one up to 1/2 original strike, ouch....
oh yea.. ascended blessing..
well I think some of us get the point.
With that all said, I'm neither against it or for the realm update, just sad to see the MS 'update' .. especially since I can't ascend anymore ...

I have already spotted a major loophole in this idea because you can of course still get all your MTs every week whilst going in and out of pergatory.
In fact it is not nessarily a place you will be able to escape as many alliances will probably place someone in there with a decent strike (who is not particularly active anyway) permanantly gaining turns to get those trying to escape in Main. Like all updates you have to adapt and survive.

There should be more penalties to joining the pergatory realm.
Unless there are more penalties to joining, it's not gonna work very well.

When it comes down to it, whether people agree or disagree the server is here, and like any update, there will be those who try to abuse it.
The simple fact is, if you don't like it, don't use it.
Forum worked hard on this, and I for one (who is currently doing assignments based on PHP, MySQL and PERL) know exactely how frustrating coding can be.
Jason, if you do happen to look at this post, please just remember that despite our occasional complaints, we do love this game, hence why we keep coming back and asking for more of these problem.

3)Supporter Give functions (and the trade broker) do not work in Pergatory.
4)The market does not carry or accept raw resourcesin the Pergatory realm - no units, no naq, no turns.
you will get your 144 turns per day....that's it.
The whole purpose of Purgatory is to slow gameplay...ok so an alliance sends one player into purgatory to accumulate turns....he will accumulate a max of 4000 turns just like in main....
Alliance A tries to run from alliance B which declared war...is that one guy going to be able to mass and entire alliance with 4k turns ? and then have to wait 5 days before he can escape?
