Do you want sabbing to once again be an effective means of destruction?

How sabbing was ruined.

Well back in the day(not right back) sabbing was the best tactic available.

People like omega were in their prime and pretty much dominated, quite a few of them terrorized with the sab tactic. The tactic goes, we sab you and you are dead. Simple.

So many ppl used this to destroy their enemyes myself included, who had rank4 covert at the time :D But after a while it died out.

The issue of this problem, is UU prices.

A wep in teh day costed 162k, or now costs 600k for most people. Well the problem is that UU now cost over 600k. Unless you can destroy 1wep per 1uu are arent even going to effecivly be winning by sabbing. Before you could easily destroy 5k+weps at the cost of a few k spies per hit. Trading has ruined that.

So I thoguht if=d sak the players who were around then, before crappy raiding, before planets, just when trading was coming about. Would you want sabbing back in the game?

(for stubborn people or jsut morons yes sabbing is sitll int eh game btu its hardly usable)

Re: How sabbing was ruined.

i think his point was, you can't do a lot of damage anymore (in comparison) someone with a medium strike isn't going to lose it quickly

Re: How sabbing was ruined.

i totally agree mate that function isnt used anymore sabbing wat is that

admin should increase sab losses by 10x that would sort out the game

it was so much more to the game back then no raiding no planets just covert and if u got sabbed u cursed the player so much meaning enemies werent made that easily and in wars, wars were won and lost from covert lvls

Re: How sabbing was ruined.

increased sab damage yes please!
you can only take out 1/4 of their inventory before they retreat
thats nothing compared to a mass and AC damage. i would rather see 75% taken out, atleast.
remember, what goes around comes around so it may benefit someone one week but kick their ass another.

alternatively, a dmage scale based on units sent. more spies sent = more damage = more losses tho. worthwhile if damage in the first place in high enough

Re: How sabbing was ruined.

Umm I remember yes...covert level in these days seems to be only to boost your rankings...
Those were great days before ascension kicked in and caused races like replicators...tauri etc...meaningless

If you were:
tauri =farming+massing
replicator = sabbing and unseen
asgard = keeping your income
goauld = making more naq

all and all more tactical...ascension ruined quite a few things and by influencing main server, in my opinion, it can and probably some day will ruin this game...

yea i remember those days, used to be a asgard, then a rep coz my friends like magni were then finally i changed to goa'uld during a ppt and never changed back.
those races had meaning back then, now its just a name as most are ascended.

with ascended races were removed and Tauri, Reps, etc brought back for all players and being a certain race was a good strategy instead of name

oh look im a system lord... woot. what do i get for it?

but that isnt the discussion here.

Repli's were feared coz they could sab you ass, and spy levels were cheaper for them. Sabs need updating like the rest of the game has.

Re: How sabbing was ruined.

The game strategy has evolved to where direct attack is more damaging over sabs....which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

But the weakness of sabbing makes it virtually worthless, except as a follow up....and even then it isn't as effective as it truly should be....

My vote would be yes to more powerful....it might also have the added effect of making people train more spies - thus creating better wars. :-D

Considering that the high defences are very costly to mass now, then the attack should also be hard and costly to sabb... so yes, you have a point here. However, i think that max number of sabbing before someone gets protected should be increased...

Re: How sabbing was ruined.

If you AC a person well, you can still sab a guy with relatively low cost.

However, I do agree that it needs to be changed, 'cos of this "this realm has had too much covert activity against it" thing, means that you can't remove a person's strike completely with it 'cos it stops you before you would have been finished. The only thing limiting sabs should be covert turns IMHO.

Re: How sabbing was ruined.

Tbh having to AC a guy to sab him is silly, sabotage is meant to be covert lol its prettty obvious who did it if theres 10pages of attacks against you.
