Re: The Galactic Colosseum
And perhaps a seperate GC will help prevent these smaller people being compared to the bigger guys and in turn thier accomplisments wont appear to be as small.

There must be loads of smaller alliance wars going on, it is just as big to them as it would be to the bigger ones. The loses are % wise just the same so why can't we work out away where they can have their own Galactic Colosseum or if someone can come up with another option.
It may also get the smaller alliances/people using the forums & bring forward another generation of forum greats.

I think it would be a good way of allowing the newer players to join the community more easily, and would encourage them to do so. And isn't that all that matters?
If the only alternative is for the attitude of every single forum user to change and not flame those wars in the GC, then clearly STI's idea is a good way to go.

That looks like a show or a manipulating newbs action to distract us
Well how about sometimes big players jump in both sides of newbs wars? Like that noone would be bored and everyone would learn

Re: The Galactic Colosseum
A possible solution would be for the actual game to encourage forum usage more. As it stands at the moment there is just a link in the top left.
Maybe some sort of news ticker informing players of current wars waging in the cosmos..

It was a long time ago...that was my best war yet.
We were 8 against a 100 member alliance (The System Lord Alliance- known as Eternal Darkness now )
The reason for the war was stupid. We went to war only because the leader of the TSLA wants all Goul'd in our alliance to join him since he wants all Gould to be united. After that, I got massed but my def was still standing tall because I treaten whom that will attack me will get their planets abondoned so I was safe from some people. I then destroyed the Leader by killing he's MS and sabbing him everytime he has weps and it ended within 3 days.

The problem as I see it is that forums do have a reputation that if you say the wrong thing to the wrong person (and at times who knows what that may/may not be) you wake the next morning to find your whole account massed to the ground so a lot of players simply avoid this and only sign in at best to trade goods etc avoiding the rest of the forums at all costs.
I was certainly aware of that possibility when I first joined the Forums;
and the perception only grew as I read more and more about people with a reputation for doing just that... especially against newbies and smaller players in general.
It was only several months after I started both here and ingame that I was confident enough of:
1)> my allies willingness to back me up, and to help me rebuild,
2)> my own awareness of who likes to be that kind of jerk,
3)> and my own diplomatic skills for keeping me out of trouble
I'd say if you want smaller players/alliances to post here, or on the Forum at all,
the best way would be for big, (really huge) players to find active smaller players/alliances, and personally invite them here.
to express an interest in knowing them, and building that community.
I also think the news ticker would help a bunch, especially if it highlighted smaller wars that were being publicly fought.
I honestly don't think big players jumping into little wars would help anything... even if happened on both sides equally.
I think it would scare the pants off of all the little players.
...and since I used to be in a fairly small alliance, named the Rampant Lions Alliance, albeit with some fairly big members, myself included, I'm quite confident on all of this.

Re: The Galactic Colosseum
meh, GC is bull. It's jsut the braging and the flaming all the time. I only go to the coloseum and check the topic titles, i see who's at war and that's abaut it for me. All threads look the same in the inside, only diferent names. So why wuld a small guy even bother to post something, just to be mocked.

Re: The Galactic Colosseum
If you look at it this way in everything we need to learn, in sport with have minor leauges, this helps to bring people on encourage & to give confidence.
where is the harm, think of the fun there could be, newer players making the same mistake we did.
as for getting new alliance to use it, why not mods send out a standard invite to said alliances. even if it is a few friends smashing each other, if they have a place to go would this not encourage them to do it again or more of there friends to do it when they get told about it.
we all know what fun can be had in these forums & the friends we can make.
The game is the game, but the forums are where the fun happens or is talked about.
