what is the minimum to asend ?
I know about the 1000 G+R points but is there anything else i need to get
and what happens to my old account, does it keep the UP ?

You need a minimum of 1800 ascension points. UP of 1000. 25 * UP untrained. 10 * UP trained. And a minimum amount of Naq, not sure how much.
After ascension your account is totally reset, as if you just started, with the exception that you now have SS, and one of the new races.
