Customizing Visible Sections [EDITED]

Well the idea is similar to BL1P's "removing the spam section" -> viewtopic.php?f=95&t=81026

My proposal is, make "all" sections available to be visible/unvisible. This is an excellent way of people customizing SGW Forum. So my suggestion is a few new usergroups which hide some sections.

For example, if you don't wish to see Spam Temple, you join "No Spam Temple" group. A few more could be made, like "No Quantum" or "No Chaos" and so on. So you could select which areas/sections you don't wish to see. I created a poll because I have a feeling people would like this and with some feedback it wouldn't be hard to make.

Please don't spam this topic with comments like "ignore sections you don't read" or "don't be lazy" or any unusefull stuff. It would be a decision of each individual what he wants or doesn't want to see.

Thank you. 8)

EDIT: Pookie said he might consider adding this, but for Chaos and Quantum only, so people who don't play it could hide it. So from now on, this debate is for customization of visibility of Chaos and Quantum sections of the forum only. I still want this implemented. :-D

Re: Customizing Visible Sections

Theoretically this is an absolutely brilliant idea.

Practically, the sheer amount of coding and time to set up that style of boards is hideous.

Brilliant idea, just not tangible at this stage.

Maybe something for Agapooka to look at down the track when he gets some dedicated helpers who are purely around on the forum like himself.

Re: Customizing Visible Sections

woult be just another "options" page needed on your user control, there just tick the forums you need => click send/ok or whatever then thats it ... but i actually don´t know anything about that lol

Well as Jack stated no coding only a bunch of new usergroups.
Hmm Jack I can't seem to find any harm in my suggestion... I mean if someone doesn't want to use it - he/she doesn't...
But there are quite a few people (judging by the poll) that would like to see this. It's not hard to do, but that doesn't mean it HAS to happen, I know that.
On the other hand if there is enough interest, MAYBE Pookie or other Forum Admin will do it for us. :-D

Re: Customizing Visible Sections

it is highly unlikely that pookie will do this... it would take too much time...
also, it isnt really needed...

Re: Customizing Visible Sections

The only two other sections that I would see fit to invisibilise are the Chaos and Quantum sections - I mean, if you don't play Chaos or Quantum, I understand why you wouldn't want to see those sections!

Make your case for any other sections - I'll nto do anythign yet, jsut observe :P

Re: Customizing Visible Sections [EDITED]

i first suggested this so if its done ill use it for sure, in my honest opinion the chaos and quantum sections ( and spam which has been done) are the only ones needed because chaos and quantum are 2 separate games thus not everyones needs access to them, and i believe MOST people who play chaos and quantum play main anyway ( yes this MAY not be 100% true but close enough)
