The Curse of Lifers

Alas, I have been hit with the curse of lifers. Lifers are the only friends that stay with you when you ascend, but other than that, they are useless.

With 40 million lifers, I can guarantee an amazing income for my realm, however, in time of war, when I need 15 million assassins to make sure a certain target will never ascend again, it becomes very hard to procure due to army size limitations.

The unfortunate thing is that most people do not foresee the curse until it is too late and it is very much inevitable unless you refuse to participate in wars (leave your ingame id here, we can change that) or refuse to ascend.

Who here has been hit with this curse? I am sure I am at the top of the list of highest number of lifers due to multiple ascensions and certain decisions I made earlier in the game. The curse makes the game very strategic, however, I am screwed. :-D (I have a nasty case of bloodlust)

Re: The Curse of Lifers

Re: The Curse of Lifers

Alas, there's no way to maximize income with your units as assassins. Unless you force your realm into economic upheaval by raising taxes, and thus forcing your units to two jobs, assassin by day and moonlighting at night as miners.

Re: The Curse of Lifers

At some point something will have to be done. Whether the option is to raise caps or just the option to kill lifers or converting them to uu at a ratio of 5:1 or something if you reach a certain amount.

Re: The Curse of Lifers

Since the new caps are being introduced (which are also dynamic), we know I will be happier in the future.

However, what would you rather have:

A) 0 million UU/100 million lifers [200K UP]
B) 25 million UU/50 million lifers [50K UP]
C) 50 million UU/0 million lifers [20K UP]

Personally, I would go with A.

Re: The Curse of Lifers

Where you managed to get 40mil lifers I dont know. Lifers should not be taken away. Its a good idea. If you dont like them dont have miners. 10% is just the price u pay for a better income.

Re: The Curse of Lifers

A curse is usually a misfortune invoked upon oneself due to oneself's very own actions. For example, curse of the mummy is invoked when one raids the tomb of the mummy.

I never stated that the curse of lifers was out of my hands, only that to get rich fast and powerful fast, it was bound to happen and that I am not the only one suffering from it.

Re: The Curse of Lifers

This problem is specifically why I have never untrained a miner after my first ascension. If I needed UU for a specific task, I waited until I generated it on my own or raided it. After I ascend again, I will not train any of my UU into mining. I figure I can farm whatever I need more efficiently than I generate it through mining.

Large armies in war tend to train and untrain a lot. Causes life issues of course.

I myself have not been touched by the curse, and it's foreseeable that I won't be. Of course I could be proven wrong tomorrow if some massive war starts. I was touched by the curse twice already though. Once during the CFE war(I lost every single UU I had, was down to just lifers) and then again during the CIA war(only had 2mill UU left, the rest were miners). Both times I've had room to grow away from the reach of the curses' deadly arms. :)

Well if you need to AC someone who's got a massive spy level and far too many spies, then your plan doesn't work out too well.

That's why I keep 3 million anti-covert trained all the time instead of moving them into anti when needed. I have 1.2 trillion of anti-covert ready to go if needed. True, I don't get the income from those 3 million UU but I don't lose 10% to lifers either.

And you also lose UU when you hit someone.

Re: The Curse of Lifers

Let's say you are LG+1

3,000,000 UU make 345,000,000 naquadah per turn, which is 16.5 billion naquadah each day.

By training those 3 mill, you lose 300K. Assuming 1K costs 650 mill naqudah. That's 195 billion naquadah cost loss. However, you make that up in 12 days (less than 2 weeks), by those 3 mill units themselves. The first month, you profit 260 billion and then 460 bill every month after that.

However, everytime you switch back and forth, you lose 200 billion in profits. However, if your gain is higher than the loss (for example, 5 months with only 3 switch-backs, you still profit and thus its still very opportune).

The only thing is that when you reach 50 mill army size, you cannot buy units anymore. And that's when the curse kicks in.

And as Revan pointed out, are you willing to lose 200K everytime you hit a massive defense?
