What the georgians did was violate their promise/treaty (can't remember which one) that they would not use violence to settle their territorial disputes. Then they launched an invasion on the regions of ossetia and abkhazia attacking the civilian population/rebel forces/russian peacekeepers and killing some in the process.
Obviously russia decided to step in to make sure their citizens stop getting killed.
that may well be the case, i can not say with any clarity on the actions of geo. in this matter. However, the movement of Russian forces beyond the areas in dispute, that is clearly wrong to me. If Russian citizens are in danger (any to my understanding they are Geo.with dual passports), then pull them out of there. If the territories in dispute between Russia and Geo. are the central issue, the Russians are more than able to draw a line in the sand and act as peacekeepers, not mother state to sidelight countries, and play out cold war tats. For me, it would be like the people in upstate ny who live in the us, but have ties to canada, getting rowdy, the us putting down the unrest, only to have canada move frces al the way down to NYC. a bit over killi'd say.

To my recollection, no country outside of the African main recruits 14 year olds.
But you may just have given a wrong impression of your age. I blame myself.
Oh, following me now are you? Your friend put his foot in his mouth back in the other thread. He's a right little Hitler isn't he?
And for your information, if the UK enters another ground war our troops will be stretched beyond capacity. Many of our more experienced troops are leaving the armed forces in droves. Should war with Iran & Russia break out, a draft will quickly be enacted, just you watch.
McCain has already stated that the USA will see the draft return should he grace the oval office.
Here's the kicker, women will also be drafted, what with Iran, Russia & China already doing this, I wonder how you'll feel when those conscript papers land on your door mate. Me thinks you'll soon change your tune Missy.
And please stop with the insults to my age, it's like water of a ducks back.
And not to sound sexist, when did women become experts in the art of waging war?
How many world leaders are women currently? Its a mans game honey, go do the dish like a good little wifey.

You try your hardest, but are too blind and have subsequently fallen too far to be allowed to continue unchecked.
I hope not to be seeing you post like this again.
I have pm'd you, I dont expect to see you post in this topic again.
Thank you Drach.

Georgia was quick to ask for a ceasefire after they had declined russias offer to stop it, while at the same time Georgia was asking for a ceasefire they were still attacking the russians and reporting that the russians were the aggressors...
i'm not trying to say russia is an angel in this conflict, but we all have to know who stated this and then judge russias response in context.

It appears Georgia started the war and Russia is going over the line by moving their military into Georgia's territory. Even though there is a cease fire Russia continues to move their armor column towards Georgia's capital destroying whatever is in their path and President Mikhail Saakashvili continues to run his mouth. Earlier while watching CNN, Saakashvili accused the United States for not doing a "good enough" job. And now both sides are telling the US to choose a side.
But if you ask me, Georgia bite of more than they could chew.

Moscow - Massive Russian military intervention to counter Georgia's effort to bring a separatist region to heel has brought Moscow revenge for its humiliation over Kosovo, analysts said on Wednesday.
"It was a demonstration of Russia's new strength for all those who believed that Russia could be ignored," said Masha Lipman, an analyst with the Carnegie Foundation in Moscow.
With bombing raids and tank advances going far beyond the disputed region of South Ossetia, the Russian operation against Georgia appeared to go past its official justification, "to protect Russian citizens".
Although Russia has never officially recognised the separatist regime in South Ossetia, it has long provided tacit support and granted most of the region's residents citizenship.

what is TRUE is that russia did everything that it was against in the Kosovo case.
russian politics will bring only troubles in the area and they cant stand a georgia in NATO , czech n polish super armed and other ex est/russian countries in NATO

well that could be compared to having a soviet member country 90 miles of the coast of the states...
as others have pointed out, this is the cuban missile crises in reverse...
would you be happy having potential enemies entrenched on your boarders?
