FOR FUN?

No, I would not declare war for fun. I would do it if it was good for my alliance.

Declare war if you are going to war them.

I believe it cancels out any good Nox would do though for the delays.

But it does keep decent track of how your war is going and who has the upper hand (done the most damage, power differentials, how many attacks are done, how many succeeded etc.)

Just remember, if you declare war, you may want to set terms with them first on the boards or via PM or MSN. ie: No officers being attacked if out of alliance, no planets taken, ascended accounts fair game/not fair game or whatever you want.

But, until peace or surrender is declared, it is WAR. Which means that your accounts are fair game for each other. So you need to be prepared (and your alliance) to lose all your untrainable defense units, your defense and attack weapons, spies (if you leave them out), planets.. etc. etc etc and the same with your enemy's stuff.

It's a war game, this is why you build the armies, but going off to war half cocked can lead to 1) People leaving the game, 2) Alliances disbanded, 3) People whining. The latter is the most annoying.

If you read the GC forum (go through the first few pages of the threads, you can read terms etc.. even go to closed ones) you can get an idea of what goes on etc. Go to the 1v1 subforum and check that out too.

There are peaceful alliances in SGW, and unpeaceful ones. Whichever one you want to be, do it, make sure your members KNOW what you are and when in doubt, see if you can find members of bigger alliances or "well known scary ones" to help you out or give you advice.

Semi-quick and simple...

Wars are awesome, where you build reputation for yourself and your alliance and where you make a ton of friends, both by getting to know your alliance mates better as well as your enemies sometimes. That said, this is all moot if you don't have a good reason to go to war. You don't want to look like the bad guy in the eyes of the community ;) well some do, but we don't talk about those mean people

Anyway, about declaring in-game, the stats that go along with the in-game alliance war are quite frankly meaningless. You could get a high alliance war score just as simply by massing a big defense as using a large strike against a non-existent defense. Besides, since alliance total power does not in the short term mean anywhere near what it used to, those stats don't really tell the tale. Besides, as has been said before, if your alliance declares war in-game, you lose the ability to go on Nox, so it's much easier to mass you, which is not good ;)

Wars in this game are decided by massing your opponenets until they become your farms and keeping them down until they either can't do anything back to you or give in.

Now go out there and do the right thing! Which could very likely be mass the first person that looks at ya wrong, but that may just be my opinion  he what are you looking at? punk? do ya feel lucky? huh? are you talking to me? are YOU talking to me?

Sorry about that :?
