Multiple MS and / or a set of mothership mission options have been suggested several times by me and others, this idea of a set of specialist ships is a new twist but to be honest I prefer the idea of multiple MS / mission settings, that way if you wanted to build ships for specific missions you can and if you want a fleet dedicated to the way you play, you have that option too.

Say 3 MSs

Missions like

1) Defend solar system ( Inc Fleets ) ( all planets )

2) Join strike force ( No Fleets )

3) Join homeworld defences ( No Fleets )

4) Explore Mission ( Fleets increase search range )

5) Engage enemy MS ONLY ( Inc fleets ) ( new attack button )

With 24 hour rule on change of mission

A player with all 3 MSs set to engage MSs ONLY could potentiall take down a single huge MS and deployment would add new strategies to the game.

"take down a single huge MS and deployment would add new strategies to the game."
At which point those that have invested 100's of T into their MS will simply quit.

Well I'm one of those people, my MS is bigger than most and cost many tens of Trills but I'd still welcome such an upgrade. Fact is mine is rank 30ish and the rank 1 is 3x the size of mine, unless you have an empire funding you or a lottery win in RL to pay for it there is currently no way anyone could catch the MS leaders of the game.

In my version of this idea, the multiple MS would replace the PDPs so chosing to change MS mission to put all 3 MSs in MS battle would leave you planets exposed.

As long as you can take your sub-MS's into battle against someone, them maybe i'll let it slide
