This is probably the best question you could ask on this forum. There are a few things that I have picked up in my 1 year of playing. One is trying to stay out of wars and resisting the urge to take revenge on other players that have wronged you (at least until you are a lot more powerful than them). Another is in the main server, the best asset you have is your planets. The best way to acquire them is definitely to conquer them from weak players. If you succeed in taking one but it turns out that it isn't one you want to keep (and it's size is normal or smaller) [JACKPOT] you should put 10 000 defences on it, then increase it's size to 'above average' and sell all the defences and abandon the planet. You would have spent about 400B naq on the defences and upgrading the planet's size but you get back 500B when you sell them (you make a profit of 100B naq). And the other tip I have learned is to put all your excess naq into planetary defences instead of the vault because you aren't charged interest.
Hope this helps!

The only problem with building defences on planets is that the investment is vulnerable. If somebody decides to attack the planet, all your invested naq will be destroyed.

I once lost 20trill+ naq worth of defences when another player took a dual from me. I took the planet straight back but I still plot my revenge even to this day.

save up 300 mpdsd's, build up 2 attack planets to 300 bil strike, 8 attack planets to 20-30 bil and have the two main ones permaphased

easy 1.2 tril strike with a base strike of 160 bil (700k supers and 700k mercs) and a 240 bil strike ms

=> Hell for everyone + your strike being untouchable for 60 weeks
or buy an USS every 7.5 weeks and your strike will be untouchable forever
