Fact is,

I consider myself an oldschool player and this game was the best. I rejoined the game after a break thinking I'd be joining the great game it used to be.

This game still is fun, not saying it's that bad. But it just doesn't mean much anymore. It's like nothing matters - nobody cares about anything.

It's not the same good wargame that it used to be.

I know this all sounds like the typical "everything was better in the good old days'' speach but fact remains, the game has gone so much downhill - and it can be fixed. Nothing wrong with mistakes and nobody is blaiming admin for anything. Just asking him to fix the game a little bit so people can enjoy it.

It used to be exciting to find out if you got massed overnight, you used to think "If I go to war... I'm not ascending the next weeks coz of resources" that used to be fun.

People now just ascend and grow and at war or not? Doesn't really matter... doesn't change anything really.

Now I like this game and hopefully I will begin to enjoy it as much as I did once.

Best regards,
KJ

I think the biggest change, even without the names due to MGM, was the in-ability to basically neutralise someone.

Before, you used to mass their defence, kill their spies, and raid all their untrained units. Leaving them with AC and Attackers. And that was it. No miners and lifers still generating 10s of billions of income every turn. That was when you had to put in the hard yards to rebuild, get back on your feet, and seek revenge. But now, you just have your 10+ farm pagers, farm like 500b+/turn, and rebuild a defence and spies in a matter of hours. Yes it means that inactives don't produce resources for you, but it means that, having an actual turn production, means something. Having a good Unit Production means something, instead of just raiding units.

Perhaps we should remove the race custom names? And put it back to just 4 races, as it was before. Use the naming conventions like on Origins, and get back to race vs race RP. Human(Tauri) vs Aliens(Asgard) vs Replicating AI(replicators) vs Gods(Goa'uld). Then we can promote the game as being Stargate "themed", instead of Stargate "based", and able to bring it back to it's roots.

Agreed, the fact that people can name their race anything is a problem IMO. Needs to be fixed aswell.

Yes, but that doesn't stop us using variants on the other names, then promoting it as Stargate themed, instead of stargate based. :-D

Good to see some oldies coming back to the game. And other oldies sticking around.
