Hope admin will come around and fix it. I remember how it used to be exciting... if you got massed one morning your account was in the ruins. Now that was fun! It was exciting and a massing could be quite the adrenalin rush. Now it just doesn't matter... and nobody cares if they are statless and in a war for ages.

Re: Old days
Back in the day messing with the big dogs got you destroyed. Before when you lost a defense it meant something. Now defenses are destroyed and rebuild with such quickness.
Also the back door scheming while it still exists is not as major a factor as it was years ago. Many years ago people didn't know the full story and that made it interesting. War topics were intriguing because war meant something more than it did not. A few movers and shakers could move and shake. Now this game is a "war game" Let me build x to topple y. It has become very transparent. Hopefully alliance houses adds some suspense.
It has lost the MMORPG aspect and adopted its name Of gate WARS.
This is my honest opinion and since I have been around I guess it actually matters.

You're not good at playing the game, either... so at least your well rounded at not being good at everything.
Not true...Lt. Frank Drebin wrote:It has become less "big" because there is little effort needed to mass
resources are easily obtained as well...
a 5mil nooblet can mass a 500mil veteran if he wanted to
I do recall some alliance not being able to mass me... and at one point wouldn't even attack me at all.

Probably because it's not the same "average player" base.
I noticed the rudeness increased slighty over years. Sure, there was some rude people in past, but most happend to be cheaters, scammers and similar kind. Now it's not as easy to distinguish rude people, because they can be anyone.
People were mostly Stargate fans, now I'm sure the amount is getting smaller & smaller. So they wonder why the hell they play this game (newcomers who didn't join due to stargateness), and also tend to stay less longer, compared to stargate fans who probably stood longer, but are now unhappy with forced change coming from MGM about game structure, and also tend to leave. The new generations have less motivation(s) to stay here, just another game on the net, not anymore the commonly shared appreciation of stargate. So sometimes the new gens leave before the old gens feel it's time to leave. Lesser and lesser duration for each new generation, with still some people staying, and even better, older gens people who quit and came back.
Updates and years of intense farming/raiding/server wars/spending $$ on account probably changed general mood, where "serious cat" overthrew the "why so serious cat" (which by the way didn't even exist back then!!).
This game is now almost identity-less, a game without a clear and strong identity has little chances to survive, and since it became gatewars, I'm sure this statement started to become verifiable.
I mean, comeon, I saw much more banners/userbars/profile images etc based on Transformers or Avatar for example during the last twelve monthes, than about the new serie Stargate Universe, if that doesn't tell something about game's identity loss & getting random...
Because, back in time when 300 was glorious, it didn't have "absolute upper hand" against Ori hype that came in last two sg1 seasons, or also the Wraith/Ancients from SGA (which was still alive), in the gfxart/roleplay department.

Re: Old days
I refuse to believe that game is as good as dead though. If admin will listen to the players - and work on these bugs that are killing the game. It still has a chance.
Admin has been told what's wrong - now one can only hope he will listen.
Most players who remember the old days want the game as it was.
Planets as they are are a bug.
Accounts repair after massings to fast.
Wars mean nothing.
Perg realm is not being used for what it was intended.

Re: Old days
Game isn't dead, as long as there will be players to support the game, it will live..and I'm sure it will be so for a while.
It has been almost 2 years that people say the game is dieing. I think that started when things I mentionned started to become a problem and changed game and forums general mood.
