exactly!!! all footballers' (soccer players') wages should be 0.00!!! ;)

Thats a bit harsh... They should be given the equivalent of minimum wages. But not wages even remotely like current levels. It is a bubble that will eventually shatter. and eventually is too late, wethinks...

STUDENTS from Liverpools universities travelled to London yesterday to join a peaceful protest against tuition fees and funding cuts.

Around 200 students boarded coaches down to the capital at 6am.

They carried placards with slogans such as Scrap Tuition Fees and Free Education.

I agree that UK fees are too high, BUT I DISAGREE with the fact university should be "free". I myself am in favor of an increase of fees for the first year of university in my country (it's too cheap, couple hundred euros and sometimes free, seriously???), first year because I consider it as a motivator for the start, while the other years shouldn't be as costly and remain cheap. However, my idea of increased fees for first year shouldn't be above €1200-1500 max, while in the UK it goes way beyond £4k if I'm not mistaken...
Granted, private business schools are very expensive in France, sometimes more than UK universities, however as far as I know, in the UK universities you can also ask for a loan to be paid back once your studies are completed. Am I right?

Student loans are government protected loansharks. If you do not pay them off right away and have proof you did so, they will take a pound of flesh then pretend like they did not and take another. And there's not a goddamn thing you can do about it.

Well most unis will be charging £9k a year, but there are private schools near me which charge £9k a term! ;)

Gotta love that I've paid £3k in tuition fees for a BA, MA, and PhD, but people coming through now have to pay £27k just for the BA! 8-[

And if they do not pay, the government destroys the students' credit ratings before they can do anything. There is no notification, no warning, nothing until said student is married and trying to get a mortgage for a house or purchase a car.

Permits should not be required for demonstrations, par the constitution. As for the crime, the good can not control what the bad do and should not be punished for it.

The answer to rising crime? Arm yourself.

It has now come out that those who are "occupying" in the city are not a part of the original occupy movement. The park where they have basically created a tent city downtown was only inhabited by Occupy for 3-4 days two weeks ago. It is now nothing more than a haven for homeless people. There are several thousand dollars in damage to the city park, and I only see that number growing as this continues.

Local businesses arming themselves won't help much. Most people around here are liberals who don't know how to shoot anything. Also, the crimes are happening at night while all the businesses are closed. The park is only 4 blocks from a major police precinct, but the crime rate continues to grow in that area.

I noticed your bait, but in a thread filled with hot air over football salaries, the reply I could have written would have been akin to throwing pearls at pigs.

In all seriousness, I am glad that someone highlighted the high salaries which footballers receive. This could apply equally, for the record, to musicians and actors. It's weird that it's really terrible if you earn a couple of million for managing a multinational corporation, but it's a-okay if you earn ten times that for kicking a football around/singing a few songs/being in Coronation Street.

Very true, mordack. We laugh a bit when people complain over the salaries given to CEOs in Norwegian companies partially (or wholly) owned by the state, saying that their incomes shouldn't be higher than that of the prime minister...

Re: "Occupy Wallstreet" or "Occupy"

The issue is often times when people make amounts they don't deserve. Like when they are pulling in millions while sinking their companies. Midway is a good example. The CEO was given millions aster he caused the company to go bankrupt.

The other issue being government jobs, like congress giving themselves raises while cutting the pay of almost every other federal employee during a recession. Which leads me to companies that do the same.

That said, the complaints aren't always legit, for instance as much as I hate the man, Bobby Kotick definitely deserves his pay.
