You can do this twice only.

I don't like that nearly as much, colliding two planets together is a whole different ball game compared to simply refitting one planet to serve two purposes.

x naq is needed to outfit cross propulsion systems to two planets making them become close enough for a binary system to uphold, allowing for the system to be noted as '1 planet'.
costs naq, costs planets.

thats not a dual planet then now is it :P
I can stick two cookies together all I want but unless they merge its still just two cookies.
And if I slam em together its just gonna be a crumbled up pile of mess

I prefer a lil' logic in my science fiction.
but hey, thats just me.

Well there could still exist two types of duals... but it wouldnt really make a difference. The explanations would still be logical.

Combining 2 planets does seem more sensible than making a single into a dual. Least that way you have to own 2 of the the type to combine.

I agree...and how about this to try and spike activity...

Offer it for 24 hours a month, randomised...you will see some inactive people come back to try and grab a prized dual!

Wrap a low level warp field around that planet, thereby reducing its gravitational constant. Make it lighter so your ship can tow it to the other planet with a force field around it.

Then you can use the phase shift technology on the planet to phase it through the other planet and rematerilise it.

The planets would need to be the same planet size and bingo, a planet that is a dual. However, it will take 24 hours to stabilise to build and get benefit from.

Is that better? :smt081

Lol, I love that its gone from "Should we do this" to "How do we explain it happening"

I wasn't to ken on the idea myself. But with the ability to change attributes on a planet, why would you not be able to upgrade it to a dual (whatever logic is used to achieve that). And as mentioned. Would allow those who don't spend, to make their own and not buy (yes, they are on the market, but usually tainted with beacons etc)

The way i see it (i have read just the last post....)

Or you buy it on the market-logical
Or you have to attack someones dual to get it.

This "changing singal to a dual" is a step closer to a point where the game options offer you the ability to make your account the way you like it, without any fear or risk of retaliation or War etc... (and a war game like SGW should have both a lot).

nope, it will give the money spenders easy duals.

you can get a basic dual for 10 t or less :P it will offer the $$$ spenders no further benifit

i like this but what if it were more like this

a mission comparible to a ms plant search but backwards

the ms will take one of your planets to a remote part of space then come back
the next day taking another there

the second planet placed close enough to the first one that there gravitational forces would pull them together

it would take 1 week for the dust to settle before you could take the planet back

during this time (from the time the frist planet is taken into space till the time the dual is retreaved) anyone doing a ms planet search mission COULD end up with one of the single planets OR the dual (if its already been made

p.s. the damge to the coliding planets would be so great all planet defences would be destroyed along with 90+% of there stats

IF YOU WANT TO MAE DUALS RATHER THAN BUYING THEM

it will have to be an extreem pain in the butt
