lol destroy him robin. I would! I personally never even attack people who I have no problems with or have never irritated my alliance, but if someone attacks, god help them. I don't mind waiting as long as it takes to destroy them. When I was a noob, I know _Apophis__ demanded I send him stuff. He was the first to enter the books of enemies of EtL, long before I found out he was a cheat. And of course I took a major role in destroying him.

Sometimes it is funny to wind up certain people. I once wound up oneill from the TA. The bloke used to have a huge ass defence and stay so low in the ascended rankings..used to really irritate me. And of course he earned alot of planets for that time. I raided him twice I think and wound him up by messaging him with something like..how about 5..or was it 10 mill UU lmao. He send me this huge pm which made me laugh so much. Some people take the game too seriously. If he had given me the uu, I would have thought he was a wimp..and I crush wimps. But seriously I dislike that if it's REALLY done, Jay6669 earned some of my anger for actually going through with stuff.. although in a war game and in real life, people and nations DO pay for protection.

But in any case. this is a war game and as long as one does not cheat or use bugs, anything goes! So if you feel he deserves a pasting for stealing your naq, give him one!

I think yes.

Teal'auc

One fair naq hit means, what? I'm assuming you mean that his strike exceeded my defense, therefore, any naq taken was taken "fairly". Correct?

So, if I used a single 15 turn attack against one planet as a response, because my fleet strength exceeded his planet defenses, would that also be a "fair hit"?

I'm really not trying to start a fight. I'm curious about this position you've taken.

No such thing as a fair hit, if you don't want to be hit, you deter it, by any means necessary, it's admirable that you give him a chance to pay you back, I would not be so kind.

Actually you were being nice by pming him 1st.. next time take one of his planets and offer it back for 53 bil. You made the attempt to save him from the trouble of losing the defense on the planet. Maid Marion would be happy.

Most ppl wouldnt write what they did if you were to be sending the exact same PM to them

Anyways I agree with ETL here that anything goes but you did ask for community"s opinion and here its a bit complicated since everyone has diffrent standards.
You set up your standards high meaning you do not expect to be hit and if you do get hit you use the possible force to "negotiate" the naq back

The same exact thing would be the following...

Someone hits a TLE player. He sends a message telling the guy to broker the naq back or he ll be destroyed...We have seen it COP tried to enforce it.
Its all by the rules its the MIGHT is RIGHT rule.

So the anwser IMO would be what you are doing is unethical but a valid tactic. It is not blackmailing or smth of that sort but its not far from that also...
Ppl wont exactly respect you because of it... they will fear you

Since this is a war game I would say the following in the end:

It is my opinion that as this is SGW you can do whatever you please to do...
But it is not fair because of the unofficial SGW codex thats says that such attacks are fair and should be let go...
That however doesnt mean you have to let it slide it just means that you didnt act by the TEXT BOOK and therefor are gaining "black points" in terms of being a fair SGW player...

But allandall Robin what is fair in love and WAR...?

Just hope you wont stumble on a dude where your own policy wont work ... (meaning he will have an acount that will be able to withstand your attacks or will simply have no planets...or have them all protected etc...)

P.S. Opinions are always subjective keep that in mind...

Well, planet massing isn't the only option. Anyway, there aren't many planets in the game that I can't reach and those players that have them I'm generally on friendly terms with.

I could resort to massing and such but people are just so particular about their planets, it's an easy first target when needed. 8)

RobinInDaHood wrote:Well, since this is a first for me and I'm trying to keep an open mind, what is your opinion on the following situation?

I've been accused of extortion. That is to say, I was told that what I was doing "seemed like extortion" so I suppose it wasn't a direct accusation. I found this somewhat amusing because I'm generally on the side of people being extorted and thought to myself, "Have I become what I've strived to prevent?"

You tell me...

Woke up this morning, logged on to bank and found this:

04:15 xxxxxxx 53,285,706,210 Naquadah stolen 15 5396 5908 31,575,286,512 490,614,557,810
(name edited for privacy and to avoid embarrassment, obviously)

First farm entry in my log for probably 2 weeks or more. Sent PM saying:

sigh. I won\'t bother with long, drawn out speeches about how that wasn\'t very wise. Please broker back the naq so I don\'t have to take further action. Thanks.

No response for several hours. Painted a kitchen cabinet. Sent follow up PM:

Maybe I didn\'t clarify my intentions and terms. You have 12 hours from the time of your farming hit (4:15 gametime) to broker back the naq you took. If you choose not to do so, I begin removing planets. I\'ve already looked over your list and you don\'t even have a single defense that I can\'t smash in a single hit.

I\'m a reasonable person but I don\'t tolerate farming hits. My feeling that is if someone wants to hit my pitiful defense and take naq, they should be prepared to lose significant investments in planet defenses and upgrades as a consequence.

Anyway, think it over and I await your response.

Received PM many hours later:

for one Naq hit ur going to let me waste ur account :)

i personally wouldn\'t bother about 1 53 bil Naq hit since what would be lost on both sides

but since i don\'t even know if id be allowed to pay you even if i wanted to you should talk to my alliance leader

Follow up:

ROFL. You have 2.5 hours left.

And then the shocker response:

on a side note this seems like extortion to me

just a note

Oh, just to dispel the idea I might be picking on a weaker player, I have an army size of 37 million, he has 47 million. I'm a Prior (1 ascension), he's an LG. We're both in normal realm.

Ok boys and girls, you decide. Am I extorting naq from this player?

No.
