This idea exists in part to get rid of the stupid planet-naming 'messages', with a possible side-effect of a few people being more creative with their planet names, and partly because it could be fun.

Add a description/comment box to the profile page. it would be a max of.. say, 1000 characters, just a simple box placed above the 'actions' section, or possibly below but above would make it more visible.

The editable version would be on the command page I should think, probably above preferences, but if below, definitely above 'recruiting'. A box, with a 'save edit' button below it.

Now if some one wants to leave a message-to-the-world, they don't have to have screwy planet names. Probably one of the simpler suggestions to code that has been put up on this board.

Some might even use it for a touch of Roleplaying by creating a 'character description' there. Others will say something like "Don't U touch My Planets or I Mass U!!!111oneone!" <.< Yeah.

but it's up to each player what they do.

it is a interesting idea... has cropped up before... not sure why it hasnt gotten in...

perhaps better than a box that would clutter up the base page, have a simple link there, which sends one to a page with that box & save button...

Make it be 750 characters perhaps to not be too heavy...and bloody allow so called "funky characters" who aren't allowed in planets!

I really like this idea. It would be a good to have it just above actions rather than underneath. Also if it was put into the game it will probably be customizable via preferences page as the custom titles and names etc. are.

I like it too but the main reason its not ever been concidered is to many foolish and childish players would abuse it to put foul things in it and it would consume vast amount of time trying to police it. In other words, a few bad apples ruin it for everybody.

Imagine that, I read the rules section, and think over my suggestions for a while before making them, and get positive feedback on them... 2/2 so far!

I have been a part of a few games that allow and avatar and sig and such....
and lets just say that this game could get really busy really quick.....
one thing I love about this game is the simplicity and the lack of clutter....

so if you can do it without ruining this things go for it.......

Agreed.

could implement player policing with it

add a report profile message button...

if 10(or other number) people report it for being rude it gets looked at by game admin

and just add a simple option for the admins to then change an field on the database so that user no longer gets it...

e.g. profile_allowed 1 or 0

Excellent Ideas. Heh, i didn't see Lore's reply before, I was typing when he posted I think. An Avatar might be a bit to much, but maybe for a later date.

If there would be an avatar there also needs to be an option to block avatars, as people with low bandwith would not like to have the avatar slowing them down.
