i dont want any windows bashing in here, the people who dont like Windows are simply linux nerds or apple users.

i sir am not a nerd but i use linux, and the windows 7 beta is pretty nice havent used it on my own machine but a few of my friends

works wonders no driver issues yet and it hasnt even crashed yet (well it did once but thats because the host OS is Vista and it died hence VM died and then Windows 7 didnt have a choice but die)

ive a feeling after the drivers it will start crashing.. my vista/xp crashes cause of driver problems still

ive only tried it out in a virtual machine, i dont have the cash on hand for a DVD to burn the iso unfortunately. it seems to run ok, next step is to get a DVD and burn and install that way directly rather than VM...... lol should run well.

and win7 will be different, theyre taking a new layout with the code structure, more kernellised so things will end up running a lot smoother etc which means the good looks of vista with the stability of a good professionally tweaked XP install from what i hear.

I'm a geek, not a nerd. -_-
Also my Linux setup is superior to any version of windows with any amount of tweakage, at least for the way I work and things I do... I'll be making a video of it later demonstrating


As for windows 7, I really don't see how it's gonna be different... I refuse to take Microsoft's word that the code is better because I'm paranoid and don't trust them <_<


Feel free to prove me wrong though Either way I'll never go back from Linux.

as far as i see it it comes down to fanboyism or anti fanboyism...... i mean people like ishy and i are different in that respect. he understands that ive found what i want in an OS with windows with particular tweaks etc, i know that he's found what he wants in linux.

what i find amusing tho is that a lot of (not all, ppl will have their reasons if they have used it) ppl who havent even used vista or at least have used it but on a bad OEM installation complain and carry on.....

cast your memory back to 2003, the same thing happened with WinXP, and i'd be willing to bet that the same happened with Win2k (i dont actually gamble so dont quote me there )

vista is good, started heading in a direction that could be interesting. win7 does it further and keeps things moving in a relatively lightweight package.
from what i hear when configured right (assuming that means WITHOUT using aero) Win7 uses less system resource than WinXP service pack 3. now with the improvements to the software itself i'd think its relatively safe to assume that the aero in Win7 wont take too much to deal with, lol a lot less than vista.....

MinWin and virtualization.

Microsoft are changing direction and heading for quality rather than quantity, compatability rather than forcing upgrades.

All os' have there problems, mac does, linux does and windows does. Currently microsoft are the most dynamic company, their not as bad as they where, they do have a very dark past and its good that they don't have total control of the market because competition is good, but microsoft are definately rising to it at the moment.
