Mothership and changing races

I am sure it was asked before. But what happens to your mothership when you change races?

If i remember correctly, you keep it as there is no difference between the motherships of different races.

I spent loads on my mothership. Its hard keeping it rank 1. Even though someone stoile that spot from me a few hours ago lol
