Barca in de premiership

i was watchin sky sports news for a bit earlier and heard dem asking if viewers thought barca would do well in de premiership, now personally i dont, very few teams giv you as much time and space on the ball as you wud get in the primera. i just couldn see them beating good defensive teams every week

thoughts please?

Re: Barca in de premiership

They would break the top four....I would love to see Barca players on a wednesday night at Bolton or Stoke or over the Christmas period where they usally stick there feet up and have a break...Instead playing on a freezing Tuff more pitch :D
I would like to see them play against Liverpool twice a season...It would give me a very good excuse to go to Barcelona for the away game.....Most Prem teams are defensive and they would not give Barca the time and space United did the other night they will do what Chelsea did in the semis and bully them...

Re: Barca in de premiership

They'd have a very hard time.. their attacks are slow to advance, they don't seem to have mastered effective countering (whenever they try to break from defending position, they lose the ball 9/10 times)..
Either way, their play is far too open. A proper, tight English defence would keep them locked in a battle over the midfield for 70 of the 90 minutes in a game. :)

But what English team can actually play 'the proper English way'? ;)
Where are the Killing Fields? Replaced by timid, tamed players.. Barca in Premiership 10 years ago and they would have a complete selection of injured players in 3 matches.

Re: Barca in de premiership

Thats true about the injurys....Also how much extra time would be added on at the end of each game...The Barca players go down as easy as Drogbra.... :D

Re: Barca in de premiership

Whenever I see Barca I feel like it's not "european" football for some reason. They are smaller, thinner players in general. Not that it means they aren't effective (they have quite a style of playing), but well, injuries are more likely to hurt them, if they face a more "physical" and less "technical" team.
Don't think they would handle very well winter matches in the UK for the most part. Apparently I'm not alone to think so anyway.

Re: Barca in de premiership

barcelona when they are on form can beat anyone, they pass the better than any team ive seen, and when they have to keep the ball they do, even with players running on top of them, teams defending will only last so long as they will get tired quicker, and with the way they can open a defense so easily at times i wouldnt bet against them, they would break the top four in my opinion and would give the others a run for there money and i would say they would strenghten there defense beforehand ;)

Just my 2 sense :)

Re: Barca in de premiership

yup i can c wer ur comin from, ders really no way to know for sure without actually testing it. in terms of teams gettin tired quicker from defending so much i dono if it'd apply to teams playin barca, de pace of de premiership is already a lot faster den most leagues. id like to know wot de comparison is like wit pitch sizes though coz i know stokes is very small, dat could be a bit of a problem for someone like barca

Re: Barca in de premiership

I remember seeing talk of celtic joining the premier league once, it never happened, but would have been nice.

Barca would destroy the Prem League, and win it hands down.

People say the english league is the best in the world, That simply isnt true, It has 4 of the best teams in the world, and 2 or 3 decent ones, The rest are quite frankly, no better than anywhere else, most of them are worse. Whereas most leagues have 2 of the best teams in there leagues respectively (Baring maybe spain who have 3 if you include valencia and italy, with the 2 milans plus juve, and Roma) .

English football is a little more physical but dont be fooled into thinking spanish teams cant beat good defensive sides, afterall, who beat Man U easy as you like in the cup final?

neither celtic or rangers wud do well in the premiership, id say der both championship sides at best to be honest

barca wudn destroy de premiership, they'd give it a good go yeah but just because they play football as it shud be played doesn mean they'd destroy everyone. true they beat united fairly easily in the final (and im gona hate saying this coz im a pool fan) but any other day i think united wud hav had dem, i think ferguson got a bit cocky with his team selection

i dont know of a league thats better than the premiership (except maybe the eircom league :-D ). honestly though, spain?yup id put barca up der but nobody else, real madrid ar terrible in my opinion, they are extremely overrated. and i dono bout valencia, der 6th in the league?...
italy is worse, theres no way id put AC or roma up there, no champions league football for ac last season and as it stands none for roma this season...id question inter too, yeah dey won de league but they scraped thru der champions league group, barely beating teams like 'anorthosis famagusta', and den got knocked out in de next round

i know spanish sides can beat good defensive teams, but not week in week out, liverpool and real madrid?

im not sure if u meant the best two teams in most leagues ar up to premiership standard, coz neither the bundesliga, eredivisie, ligue 1 or the portuguese league hav any teams to that standard

Re: Barca in de premiership

Your saying Munich and Leverkusen PSV and Ajax wouldnt do well in the premier league? Your getting FAR too romantic about english football.

Bolton Wonderers anyone? Blackburn Rovers? Neither of these teams, nor most other teams in the Prem league, baring the big 4, would stand up to any of the bigger teams in most leagues across the world. Hell, they'd probally struggle against sides like River Plate and Colo Colo

Re: Barca in de premiership

theres a few south american teams that would do well in the prem league so i wouldnt mock river plate :P
and yeah apart from the big four and maybe everton the other teams are fairly average, and again i dont think united would have beaten barca no matter what team selection, barca were always favourites and they showed what many didnt exploit this year was united weakness at times in defending, remember all those teams united drew with and they just about got the draws and sometimes those 1-0 wins? any team that could finish would have ended uniteds premier league chances, liverpool in my opinion were the better side this year and proved it, also remember its was 4-2 in losses (united loosing 4 to pools 2), and im a chelsea fan, thats my two sense :) Also dont forget Barcelona was the first good team united met in the champions league, as arsenal were all over the place this year.

seriously?ajax and psv finished 3rd and 4th in de eredivisie, probably the weakest league out of all the big leagues barring maybe portuguese. leverkusen finished 9th lol. i dont know why you think der so good, if your comparing them to previous years or not?yeah munich maybe, but its a big maybe, they wouldn touch the top 6, maybe 7.

dont get me wrong im not sayin ders no teams dat wud do well in de premiership, but ders not as many as you'd think. depends wot u class as 'doing well' i suppose

i think he was just using them as bad examples :P
theres a few teams in germany like Bayern, hamburg and Wolfsburg, in Italy Florentina seem to be improving each year and obviously you have inter, AC , juve and Roma and in spain there barca, real (they need improvements lol) Athletico and sevilla, Im sure a flux of the average teams in the prem league would get relagated  and maybe Real too
