Particularly those in the UK, can you see what I believe is Venus in the evening (on a clear night sky) towards the South or South West?
Just interested if anyone else has seen it. Apparently it's the easiest planet to see with the naked eye and the brightest thing in the sky with the exception of the sun and the moon. It's visible for 8 months of the year and in the evenings those months are May to Sep.
I took some photos of it last night. It's something I spot every year around this time as I always see it through my blinds at night.

I thought it was visible all year round

When I despair, I remember that all through history the ways of truth and love have always won.
There have been tyrants, and murderers, and for a time they can seem invincible, but in the end they always fall.

Re: Venus
what time? venus is usually seen shortly after sunset or before sunrise.
what you see might be jupiter (take some good binoculars and see if you can spot some moons)

I think it depends on where in the world you are and your proximity to the equator.

Venus usually doesnt climb that high, so if its visible at a high angle then its another of the planets most likely jupiter or saturn at this time of year i would think.
Get a pair of binoculars or something & let us know what you can see through them.
Just remember to give your eyes a good 30mins outside in the dark before looking to adjust to the darker environment
EDIT: Also venus is visible all year round in most uk locations, you just have to observe it during daylight rather than nighttime, which is normal difficult due to its proximity to the sun at those times.
yeah.. exactly.. deadly buzz..
