Buying a TV, anyone been in this dilema?

Hy, I really didn't know where to put this lol, so if I missed the section for this stuff can a mod move it please :P

Anyways, I'm moving soon to a new apartment and already got most of the stuff bought(yes including a washer :-" ), so the last thing left for me to get is a TV.
At home we have a Sony Bravia(which imo is a top of the top) and as u know a LED TV, but for my own pocket maybe a bit too pricey(I don't want to go for too much, just don't watch that much TV :P).
Now my uncle just switched his old one which is a Panasonic TH-42PV7F Viera, which is about 1 year old, but has really been turned on 2x :P
So considering the new TVs are much better than this one, but on the other hand I can get this one cheap(300€) what to do? If u are gonna suggest I go for a new one, please give some advices to which models/brands should I go for :)

Tnx, Scar

Don't do what he said, when it's crisis it's time to buy stuff -moderately, obviously-. #-o

So...hmmm...I have a Sony Bravia LCD Digital TV 56cm, but it cost me about 420€...so, I don't really know..maybe go for less expensive brands Samsung or LG if you cannot afford it?

If you can afford a 300€ second-hand television, you can afford a 450€ new television.

Re: Buying a TV, anyone been in this dilema?

If I were to rate the brands personally..

Samsung
LG
Panasonic
Sony

tbh Sony is a pretty average brand, Samsung is prolly the best out there. And absolutely stay away from Toshiba and Sharp.. those are straight up jokes. As far as 3D, avoid Sony like the plague. LG is prolly best there, Samsung second.

450 euros is like $650 right?.. Now I don't really know European prices, but here thats going to get you maybe 32 inch LED w/ 1080p and 60 hz from a nice brand.. 1080p and 120 hz from a crap brand like 'Westinghouse'. As far as LCD, you can prolly get around 46 inch w/ 1080p and 60 hz from like Samsung/LG/Sony.. or 1080p and 120 hz from again.. a crap brand. A 37 inch LCD from a nice brand w/ 1080p and 120hz should also fall in your price range..

Personally for that much money.. I'd get a plasma, you can prolly get around 650-700 US dollars in price and you'll have no motion blur and might get 1080p too depending on brand/outlet.

Re: Buying a TV, anyone been in this dilema?

Well just to explain my post above, I don't have a problem affording it, however I feel that with my time on the TV(1h perhaps per day) its pointless for me to spend 1-2k € on a TV :) The main discussion as always is LCD vs Plasma, and if the model that I can get for 300€ is actually a deal that is worth going for :) Oh the size that I want is 42" (107cm) diagonal.

If you don't watch much tv (Like myself) the best would probably to find a screen that can double as a pc monitor, switch between tv and pc whenever needed. I personally just have a 24" pc monitor with an adaptor cable to plug in my x-box.

Re: Buying a TV, anyone been in this dilema?

I already have a Samsung SyncMaster P2770HD, 27" connected to my laptop(on which I can also watch TV), but its located in my computer room, so want a separate TV for the living room. So so far what I've got is that I should buy a new LCD(insted of a plasma), that the one that I can get for 300€ isn't really worth it, and that with brands I should go with Samsung, LG, Panasonic or Sony. Anyone got a 3d TV, cause might as well go for that :D

But seeing as you want it in the living room .. its a different story.
If you have a laptop, they have awesome laptop models nowadays too :)
