Can you accumulate more than 1 Glory Rep per turn?

Yes, but it get's to be quite expensive.

10 G&R for rank 1.
5 G&R for rank 140 roughly and up.
1 G&R for rank 1400 roughly and up.

5 GnR a turn at rank 158 or above (10% of top GnR rankers)

and even though you have 1001 GnR you still have to wait 2 weeks after a previous ascension to ascend again

Best solution, raid/farm for 7days in the first week after your ascension, get above rank 158, sit pretty and such, and voila.. Ascend at the break of the third week.

To be in to 150 you need at least 2T strike, 4T def, 600bil raw MS and for covert well that's bit of a problem as either you spend naq to buy covert levels/AC levels (if you decide to keep assassins to raise your covert/anticovert power that is) or you get many many spies on small level but risks someone comes by and kill the spies so not suggested to do.
That's the problem, if your MS is small you'll have to train much more supers to be armed in strike/def and also train much more spies and/or buy covert levels and therefore you will lose more troops when you ascend.

Unless your MS is about 500-600bil raw power (without techs) and you're willing to spend up to at least level 30 covert (and AC if you decide to train assassins to get G&R), I wouldn't suggest you to go into top 5 G&R
