Why all the Happy Birthday threads?

I'm seeing more and more of these birthday threads. Its crazy to think you really care or would even know who's birthday it is if they didn't post it.

A simple private message if you really half cared it was there birthday.

Congrats on getting another yr closer to death. Big whoopdi doo.

It's nice to come on to the forum and see a birthday thread for you. What's wrong with that? :P

Why the doom and gloom? Is this not meant to be a happy place?

Re: Why all the Happy Birthday threads?

If people want to post about a Birthday for a day or two, I see no problem with letting them do so.

Re: Why all the Happy Birthday threads?

I think I get more annoyed by it nowadays because it's an example of how much the forum has declined. I wasn't too bothered by birthday threads when they were occasional and barely noticeable amidst all of the actual conversation in general, but to login here and see that a majority of recent forum activity is page after page of simplistic sycophantic drivel - well, it's quite sad.

Re: Why all the Happy Birthday threads?

I find them refreshing to all the flame threads that seem to be in abundance..I consider many ppl within the game friends ..its good to see mostly well meant humour and banter among friends.

I think its nice to show the nicer side of ourselves

Helps give the forum a community feel..

Sadly, I've known a few ppl ingame that rl friends/family forget thier birthdays or they no longer have family for those and others like them I like to show them they are not completely forgotten..

I know it meant a lot to me, when JT made the Birthday thread for me.. thankyou JT :smt058
