'Practical question' about management

I was asked a question in my English course work: "why/how does managing women's presence contribute into increasing their company's productivity?" I have seen the stats and it's the case, but the article I found doesn't explain why; do you have an idea why women managers help increasing productivity (services company mainly)?
I lack the theoretical and practical knowledge in company management to answer this question properly.

Re: 'Practical question' about management

it might be related to ancient customs and tendencies, from back in the prehistorical times... The man was the hunter, while the woman managed the home.

Of course, it doesn't work out always, and there's always those that don't fit this very generalized norm.

Re: 'Practical question' about management

I was thinking about this, since you asked.
Speaking strictly for myself, maybe it has to do with me not getting distracted as quickly as men. Or, more precisely, I can be distracted and still do the job right and on time.

Also, in my experience, women are **Filtered** to work for.

Re: 'Practical question' about management

ever hear the term 'different set of eyes" ? men and women tend to perceive and problem solve in different way. not necessarily better ways, just differently. In my experience, management team made up of both women and men function better than teams made up of all one gender.

Re: 'Practical question' about management

I dont know the psychobabble explanation, but with 18 years work experience with various employers I can say that women generally ( there are always exceptions ) make far better managers than men, the best managers Ive known were all women between the age of 30 and 50.

I would guess it's because they are better at team work, less competitive & confrontational, more social and their greater empathy allows them to understand the positions their subordinates are in.

On the down side I would also say that younger women especially in lower positions in a company can be quite **Filtered** with each other, manipulative & disruptive, talk to much and take a lot more sick leave.

Most of my jobs have been office based in the finance sector and these are generalisations which in from experience apply to most, NOT all. I would guess that in some jobs like high pressure sales where competitiveness is an advantage and more physical blue collar work where more discipline is required male managers might be better.

I guess you could say men are better in management where an 'Alpha Male' being in charge works, where as in all other situations where the 'Alpha' is not in charge the 'Alpha' would challenge a male boss but be quite happy and used to taking orders from a women lol

Re: 'Practical question' about management

In the business I am in women in management tend to be..well quite frankly ARE more detail oriented and have a very high and very legit expectation that those under her management perform their duties as steady and as efficient as they can..in other words maximizing ones productivity level.
