the system requirements,
including and especially Java Stuff,
any security issues,
the various clients available,
and frankly, all the rest.

if i need to join a certain irc channel i ve always used webirc so i dont bother wit applications

Thanks, but I need to do so much more than just read a bunch of different stuff by people
that I don't know, and hope it's accurate and doesn't contradict the other stuff that I am reading.

what u need is all newbie stuff , u ve client softwares like mIrc or clientless using browsers once u ar ein u connect to the server and to the channel then register/identify yr account. easy stuff jsut use the how to. if u want more then see how to create channels and maintain them.
