Mrs. Affy had a Massive stroke, BUT IS MUCH BETTER - Miracle

All my friends all over the world,

I hate to post another batch of bad news, but this one has devastated this old man's heart more than I can ever tell you all. I don't even have the strength of humor to do anything but lay out the facts.

On Tuesday Sept. 4th, what was the Tuesday after the Labor day holiday here in USA my wife, Nan (aka Mrs. Affy) was being treated for severe dehydration from a strange fatigue/sickness that had her so violently throwing up Labor day that she nearly died from dehydration. I rushed her to the ER early Tues AM the 4th and they began IV fluids. Just as we thought she was about to regain enough strength to return home, Mrs. Affy had a massive stroke, both sides of the brain at once right in front of my horrified eyes.

A CT Scan showed that she had a massive 3-4 inch long brain clot in her right sinus vein which is the large vein running up around over the top side of the brain, and back down both sides of our brain where the blood exits the brain and dumps back down into the pulmonary system (heart/lungs). That right side seized and the back pressure caused a massive bleed on the left side above her upper left temple area. The resulting double side stroke has caused severe brain damage to areas of my wife's noggin. In layman's terms, Mrs. Affy 'gnashed her squash' badly.

She was treated at the Neuro-Surgical Trauma center at Shands Hospital at the University of Florida in Gainesville, luckily we live less than 25 miles away from one of the top 10 Brain/Neurological Trauma units in the world. She has been in a semi-comatose barely cognizant state for weeks, and only recently has she started to show signs of some recovery. She has had a Tracheotomy tube in her neck and feeding tubes in her stomach, and been on machines since this started. But, even though we are seeing some signs of cognizance returning, the long term prognosis is not the kind of wonderful story ending that Affy normally gets to provide on these Forums. Essentially, my life has changed dramatically forever, and I will learn a new role as a care-giver and provider to my soulmate of 32 years, and Cool Breeze's mother. If Mrs. Affy comes out of this near 100% of what she was before it will be a miracle, but we are starting to understand that the realizations will be something of a way more reduced quality of life for my beloved mate. It will be and adjustment, but I am starting to wrap my head around it and can finally start talking about all this and passing on this information to you all.

I did not want to add another tragic Posting to our Forums, first my Dad passing away, Mrs. Affy's father in law, all the crazy crap in our RL with Mrs. Affy's crazy former boss stalking my wife and trying to make our lives miserable, and now this. (As a side note, for all you who followed the Mrs. Affy's boss is an azz saga, locally several major clients have pulled their business from his law practice, basically as a back lash since we cannot determine what has caused her brain clot but they choose to blame it on her jerk boss and all the stress/fatigue that he caused my sweet wife. Hey, I take what good news I can get! As of last count, the clients, corporations/farms that have told me I have added up to what amount to his losing about $115,000.00 US dollars a year in recuring income!) I myself am reeling, and I play SGW in a fog of just needing something to do whilst I sit by her bedside watching the monitors, gauges, and things go bleep, blop, blort and whoosh. Never fear for old man Affy, I have a faith and my life has been one of prosperity and good times so we will endure. I just have NO idea how this is going to affect my ability to continue as an active part of this community I have loved for many years.

You have all been good friends to me, and I thought you deserved the truth, and I wanted to let you know it has been my honor, and privilege to interact with you all for the last near decade now it seems. Continue to play on and every now and then, think a good thought for your friend Affy (and yes, even Bad Affy) and I will try to update you all on her progress.

My heart wants to break, but will not bend, and while my soul is despairing, and wants to give in to the misery I think back on my life with my wife, all our worldwide travels, and the places my career and our charity work have taken us, and I realize I must persevere. I owe it to Mrs. Affy, and all of you who I have rambled, preached, and passed on my philosophies all these years and now I must lead by example, instead of crumbling and falling.

I love you all, and wish you the best, and try to occasionally do a random act of kindness (well, maybe not in THESE games, Haha) but at least in RL. It was one of Mrs. Affy's favorite things to do. Imagine a world if we all did that daily, and just could see fit to all follow what Christians are taught is the Golden Rule but many religions have this as a common tenant in some form: "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."

What a wonderful world that would be...

I am so very sorry to hear about this latest tragedy, Affy. Despite the odds, I do hope that your wife recovers a great deal of what has been lost in the damage. You have such a temendously strong heart and spirit to be taking this as well as you are.

I'm very, very sorry to hear this, Affy I hope she gets well soon. I can't even imagine how I'd feel if it happened to my GF, and we're nowhere near the 32 years together (after all, our combined age is not much bigger than 32 years). So all I can say is that stay strong and in tough times, remember the good times and never ever forget those.

In just the last week or so, my Mom has begun to have miraculous changes and recovery to her mental faculties, and voluntary movements in her arms/legs. Things are looking better for our family and we have been getting messages and prayers from all over the world. Thanks!

My Dad has had little time for games but I can tell you that when he gets a chance he peeks into the Forums and he mentioned to me that he felt terrible about posting this news but would want you all to know. His Facebook postings have gone almost viral with his stories of his love for my Mom and what they are going through. As you can imagine my Dad putting his entire heart and soul into messages like he does here in the Forums, but this time it is TRULY life and death. I know he is glad to hear from you all.

This broke my heart. I am so sorry this is where you are in RL. Just keep hope alive as it seems you are, and know the whole of gate wars pauses and sends thoughts and prayers to both you and yours.
