officers?

How do we gain officers / choose a commander? Neith myself or a friend of mine can figure out how to do this (I only ascended a couple days ago, but my friend has been here for a week or two). Is this feature available in Ascension? or do I need to do something special to enable this?

This feature is NOT in Ascension. Its a good thing too. The ascension server sees who is truly good at this game, and who doesnt rely on officers to back them up.
