Disabling Motherships

I've got the impression that people wish that they could destroy enemy motherships. Although this is clearly a rather nasty penalty, there is a solution that should satisfy the bloodthirsty people i.e. everyone. Make it possible to disable a mothership.

Basically, the idea is that if a mothership is reduced (no shields or weapons) and takes heavy damage, it is forced to retire for a time for repairs. During this time the owner of the MS cannot add anything, or use it for anything. This would make massing on motherships more fun, given that there would actually be a reason for doing it.

well... this makes massing also, a tad bit unfair. While a person is sleeping or doing watever, and then they log on to find their mothership was disabled in middle of the mass.

Each of the attacks then, would have the mothership's power added to the that of the ground force, wrecking even more damage. And the massed player has only one option, vac mode or PPT... which is sorta sad

Also, it's unfair to the weaker players who don't have a strong mothership and somebody strong annihilates it, then they can't even improve it.

And sometimes, both sides lose shields and volleys... what would happen then? The attacking side obviously have the advatage... and the attacker is usually stronger.

I thought it's an intresting notion though. It'll make the game a little more realistic and intresting. It just need some adjustments to make it a little more fair

Good thought, but problematic. Because SGW isn't a "play while logged in only" someone could essentially lose their mothership while they sleep. And for some people (myself included) my MS is the only thing keeping me from being hit big time.

Being able to loose weaponry & shields on MS is already costly enough, no need to make disabling MS possible..

Perhaps though, there could be a way of implementation that doesn't leave players MS-less

an interesting idea, but id hav to say no to it. the dammage done to motherships at the moment is enough, and there is no reason we should go about disabling MS.

MS are now an essential part of the game, aiding in attack and defence as well as taking planets (scouting and conquering). It would be way too easy for the bigger more powerful players to disable smaller players MS. and i mean without my MS id get nailed and become a regular farm and like said above i cant defend my self at nite while asleep:

So interesting idea, but it would kill me and im sure many others to lose their mother ship for (x) amount of time.. i mean the repairs i make on it now when a big player hits me is huge enough, id hate to hav it disabled as well..

hmm i thinkt thats not a bad idea at all....

Look how many times were your MS massed?
I think a temporaly disable of motherships cant be that bad...let say 1days of repairs after a full mass....
Anyways if u get massed u loose your def, ms weapons, shields, and maybe spies and attack too... so that 1 day wont be too much without MS while u have to rebuild everything already.... and dont forget the new upgrade of defcon levels and etc when u get massed... so your MS cant be totalled so easy...

ppl always complain about somet that cud be interesting!
dear jesus..its called stargateWARS...i think it wud work well in the game if a mothership cud be disabled.a tad bit better thanmy completely destroy a mothership idea..which isnt to bad either and since a ms only costs 450mil naq!
it wud make massing better a tad bit easier...and why sudnt a more powerful ms not be able to disable a weaker one???
how wud you expect a ms wit 100 weapons and shields to stand up to one wit 2000 of each..thatsjust crazy tlk

Well Coyle is correct. A weak MS cant fight one stronger. Like the Asgard, before anubis came. The Goa'uld would flee from the Asgard. Because they had far stronger ships. Souldnt that be inplace here? Or maby the MS sould be destroyed... How many do you see hyperdrive away, when there damaged??

it could be good for some with a really strong mothership .But it can be bad with players with tiny ones who's can get taking out really easy so i think no to because its massing with a different type though.

But another thought After you deystroy there mothership could they then just go out and buy a whole new mothership.Thats where the thing would get alot better for the people so that they can just start over again. But it would be worthless because it could just get deystroyed again and again.

Especially during an active day on here, where you may have all of the money and go to buy a mothership, but just before you click on it someone attacks you and takes the money.

About it being destroyed again and again. Maybe there could be some sort of shipyard to keep a new mothership at until you are ready to launch it. Then your mothership couldn't be harmed while inside it. Meanwhile, you can build whatever modifications you wish on it.

me well find yourself a commander who can protect and can give you some money to get your mothership strong so it won't get stolen

You can't just depend on someone else to hand out money to you. Besides I was giving a hypothetical situation for a fairly new player who has little to no experience whatsoever.
